Why do we always prefer to do what is wrong and harmful to the Nigerian economy. Every developed country discourages imports, protects and encourages their local industries in order to create jobs and save scarce foreign exchange. But in Nigeria, we do the opposite, i can't understand the kind of people we are in this country. |

Dangote should rest abeg. I really don't know why he feels so entitled. So all these years have we not been importing fuel? U started refining this year and suddenly all imported PMS is now fake just because they are selling below ur price. Rubbish! |

Lithiumite:Fuel doesn't get into a car engine. It goes into a process of combustion by mix with air in the carburettor and the combustion exit through the exhaust. |

Yes there are substandard product out there. Trust me 80%?of the imported fuel ain’t that bad as mr capitalism want us to believe him. Bottom line is Mr Capitalism is just playing the typical capitalist game devalue my competitors products or repute if that’s achieved dominate and hike my price but if those competitors succeeds he would be force to reduce the price of his product so as to have a niche in the market. |

As if he was not using imported PMS before his refinery came into existence. Dangote is greedy and enriching himself at the expense of Nigerians. |

adenigga:For the safety and functionality of my vehicles.....I will rather by fuel from Dangote at 1,200- 1,700 naira , than to buy substandard fuel........ I know Nigerian marketers will start importing cheap substandard fuel or they will start mixing it with something best known to them . Just to sell it cheap..... |
| Re: Those Importing PMS Cheaper Than Ours Are Selling Substandard Products – Dangote by deavicky(m): 8:44am On Nov 04, 2024 |
Dangote should allow us to worry about the quality. That is not his business as long as it is cheaper we will go for it. We also do not know if his own is better as we can not also verify it. |

Dear Alhaji Jankoliko, sorry, Aliko Dangote, Could you please shut your mouth for once? Even if your products are as white as snow, is irrelevant to Nigerians at this most critical moment of their lives! Nigerians had hoped for available and affordable petroleum products when your refinery came on stream. Alas! It was a hope dashed! Even after President Tinubu intervened by asking the NNPCL to sell crude oil to you in naira, it has been one excuse or the other with the bottomline of maximizing profits at the detriment of the rest of society. This is the same scenario in every sector you have ventured into all these years. For instance, Dangote Cement that was hoped to reduce prices actually took the driver's seat in jacking up prices beyond the reach of average Nigerians. Dangote, are you for Nigerians or against Nigerians? Are you a blessing or a curse to Nigerians? Do you enjoy the sobriquet of "Mr Shylock of Africa"? How do you want Nigerians to remember you when, like everyone of us, you depart this world? Think about it! The time is now! Yours sincerely, @hotseat |

TechCapon:Is the fuel who have been importing a standard fuel? Compare to the ones in Europe, united States and other sensible countries? I think , it was during Buhari time , when they imported some useless fuel . But they swept it under the carpet .....they said , NNPCL recalled it...... For your information, most fuel imported to Nigeria are below standard ,compare to other developed countries..... |

yommen:I wonder those that were supporting him. Today, Dangote's cement is not of the highest quality in Nigeria based on my experience yet he is the one that ran down his competitors touting his 3x as the best thing in Nigerian cement industry. He tried to monopolize the flour and pasta industry but Dufil (makers of indomie) already enjoyed the first mover advantage in Nigeria, so it became difficult for him. During Buhari's regime, Abdul-samad (the owner of BUA cement had to cry to high heavens before he could access certain privileges which was made the exclusive preserve of Dangote. My fear is that with his first mover advantage in the refining industry, Dangote work against the emergency of any major local refining competitors. He may allow some small players but he will do everything to control 80% of the market. |

Kilometres:There are bunch of children on this forum. You were probably a baby when Dangote bought the Port Harcourt refinery and Yar'adua reversed the transaction and took it back. Today, the refinery has become moribund. BTW, business rivalry is very normal. I would've written that you will hide your face in shame when BUA launches his refinery, but I just remembered that Nigeria is a country of shameless people. PS: I won't reply you again |

lekonso:You have asked very beautiful questions but let me add to the questions: 1. Why do Nigerian businesses that enjoy government support through subsidized dollars, tax rebates/ holidays, import waivers low interest loans etc. fail to to be considerate in their pricing to Nigerians. 2. What kind of greedy people are these? 3. How do you expect citizens to continue to patronize people who will exploit them to the hilt through over-profiteering rather than show empathy to the masses? |
| Re: Those Importing PMS Cheaper Than Ours Are Selling Substandard Products – Dangote by deavicky(m): 9:07am On Nov 04, 2024 |
Pickmycall:you are right but during combustion the top of ur piston suffers from excess carbon deposit as result of incombustion and this deposit can block the exhaust thereby returning pressure back to engine. And it 1. reduce engine efficiency 2. Wear of piston ring 3. Bring out smoke 4. Overheating of the engine 5. Damage plugs there are many things that can go wrong. Ur engine can also start jerking |

onukwube1:Because Nigerians with their destroyed purchasing power can only afford the substandard goods. Eg you buy the average brand new car battery now for eg 60k, it will bearly last you a year and few months, but a proper varta battery will last you years but will cost you 200k plus. If only originals were in the market, who will buy batties again? Sad, but that is our reality. |

Dangote is just making mouth, what is his business with substandard product being imported into the country. When did he now turn to product regulatory Authority for other busineses? He is just a selfish human being that does not like competition. we need market competition for the price to come down. |

adenigga:Dangoté, nobody will fall for your scam format again. You will not be allow to have monopoly over petrol like you have had in cement, sugar, salt and floor. Your monopoly is the very wicked one that seeks to milk the people dry through wicked and unreasonable prices. You are an unrepentant greedy business man. Its not like we like imported fuel for a product that can be refined inhouse in Nigeria here but since you are greedy with your prices, even if you like call the imported petrol substandard all day, we will buy it like that since you are out to sell your refined fuel at way expensive price. Keep wailing. |
| Re: Those Importing PMS Cheaper Than Ours Are Selling Substandard Products – Dangote by grandstar(m): 9:33am On Nov 04, 2024 |
Even if the government does not Dangote to become a monopoly, they should provide him some measure of protection such as a 3-5% import duty on refined products. The fact that a competitor in the industry can set up a blending plant close to his facility is malicious, and indicative of how far established players in the industry are prepared to go to maintain their dominance in the industry. If I were Dangote, he should focus his attention on bankrupting those unfairly competing with him by crashing the price. The oil business is heavily dependent on borrowing. Crashing the price can quickly bankrupt many players. This will force the government and other relevant bodies to wake up to their responsibilities I believe in competition but it must be fair. |
