This is one line of thought and probably the only one I will agree with the obidunces. But we can expantiate the argument to also include the fact that as eligible voters who are guarranteed the rights to protests (albeit peaceful) they can also face the consequences of their actions and be tried as adults. So save your cringe soapy croc tears for your new found almajiri allies. Their arraignment is in line with the law and I am happy that for the first time these almajiri nuisance that are used at will by northern politicians to carry out violent politically motivated protests are being held accountable . This will most likely set a precedence that those who engage in such violent riots will face the law -sonthing that has never happened since the history of northern riots. |

These things still boil down to their way of life down there. Sometimes you might think it's religion but it's actually not. These guys are just born radicals. In all of these though their Traditional Rulers, Imams and their evil leaders should pay the money FG requested. I don't know why it's so hard for their leaders down there to create a meaningful impact in their states there. All they do and act is primitive and backward way of life, create Almajiri schools and be teachind Arabic morning till night. Then later they tell them to start shoe making businesses. I curse their religious leaders and all those evil men holding these kids destiny in their hands. |

angelboy01:Radicals? Are they worse than the agberos and cult boys prevalent in all of southern Nigeria? All many of them did was protest against hunger and your government took the chance to blame them for some of the worst. Have we already forgotten about the man who was arrested as the mastermind behind the flying of Russian flags during the protest? ![]() |

Kobojunkie:Those almajiris have more influence than all of you in the south combined. They are used to determine elections They are used to foist a political agenda via mob action They are the ones who make up the human pipeline recruitment into violent terrorist groups plaguing the country. The clowns in the south are in no way the mates of those almajiris. |

If you can arrest them then, you should prosecute them within the ambits of the law and not starve them in a dungeon for 90 days and present them in court when it enters your brain |

MASTAkiLLAh:This is where we need to reform the process of arraigning suspects to courts. The Police should never be allowed to arraign suspects in court over serious charges. The case file should have been sent to the DPP in the Ministry of Justice . The Police continue to abuse their limited privelages of charging someone to court on frivolous charges. The police should be limited to charging suspects to court on only misdemeanor offences. If they have cause to charge someone to a higher court instead of the magistrate courts that they are only allowed to , the police won't be arraigning people on trumped up charges. These kids are not supposed to be charged for treason and if they were, it's only the DPP that can handle such cases in a Federal High Court. I know what I am saying because a friend of mine was falsely accused by a business associate and was arrested by the police on fraud allegations. Only a High Court can entertain fraud charges and apart from the EFCC, NIFU, Police Fraud Branch ,Alagbon and the relevant ministry/commissioner of justice office, it's not a DCO on conjunction with a DPO that are supposed to charge one to court. They are to transfer the case to the above highlighted investigative and prosecution office and where cause and mounting evidence is found, charge the person to a court of competent jurisdiction. These kids were hastily charged to a magistrate court that does not have the jurisdiction to entertain Treason charge. The magistrate then remanded them to Prison pending when they are to be arraigned to a competent High Court. This is how it played out. And those I'm the DPP ought to have reviewed the case file and dropped Treason charges and instead refer the case back to a magistrate court for trial on public disturbance charge. The Police are one of the main reason we have congested courts and prison yards because they keep filing serious charges in the wrong court with no case in the first place. It was later after settling the case at the Police station by agreeing to pay a hefty sum to the false accusers and police as bribe, that we later learnt that the accuser was only interested in seeing my friend remanded in prison custody and for him to rack up legal bills. It's a dirty racket involving the Police, the magistrate court and even Prison officials |

DomPerignon:According to you, the handlers of the Almajiris in the North are those responsible for using them in winning elections, foisting political agendas, etc., implying they are themselves victims and not entirely the problem. So, why hate on them and not those who use them, the same ones who use the Almajiri's Southern counterparts to keep those in the south placated? ![]() |
