Strengthening Nigeria-UK Relations

Today, Nigeria welcomes the UK Foreign Secretary on his first official visit to Africa in his current role. This visit marks a significant step forward in the relations between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, setting the stage for a strategic partnership that will benefit both nations.

During the visit, Nigeria's Foreign Minister, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar (OON) met with the UK Foreign Secretary to discuss areas of mutual interests, including economic growth, security, and sustainable development.

In a landmark moment, the two Ministers will also sign Terms of Reference (ToR) to establish a Nigeria-UK Binational Commission, creating a structured framework for deeper and more consistent cooperation.

Hon. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar @YusufTuggar

Today marks a significant step forward in Nigeria-UK relations as we concluded an impactful meeting with the @DavidLammy, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom, on his first official visit to Nigeria and Africa.

The meeting elevated our bilateral relations to a strategic partnership and established a Bi-National Commission, which will be implemented through six key pillars: fostering growth and job creation, enhancing national security, prioritising the safety and dignity of our citizens, deepening international cooperation, modernising our development approach, and fostering closer people-to-people ties.

In line with the Tinubu Doctrine of 4-D Diplomacy and the Renewed Hope 8-point Agenda, Nigeria and the UK affirmed their commitment to working together on job creation, local value addition, renewable energy, tackling illicit financial flows, multilateral reform and resolving international crises, alongside other areas mutual interest.

Together, we can create a more resilient future.

It's the aftermath of the meeting that is the issue.. these men might just be discussing personal issues cos there isn't any improvement in any sector of this administration

It does actually, if properly harnessed. However, it's beyond your comprehension. So focus on the things that are within your capabilities, for now.

After all this meetings what's next?
The common man still can't afford rentage or foodstuff. People are getting married only to use their spouses for money ritual. Cos of hardship.

It seems our foreign minister is not aware that British owned companies have departed Nigeria in droves due to high operational costs, runaway inflation and wide foreign exchange margins.

The FDI you seek ito replace the outgoing ones will not operate on the moon.

NO INFRASTRUCTURE IN PLACE, NO FDI unless for photo ops.

I no go lie - the UK government has been extremely supportive to Nigeria through its FCDO. From supporting several commonwealth scholarships to releasing millions of pounds to finance SMEs and IT projects in Nigeria. The recent project is Sankore and the budget is £1.9 million for IT projects in Nigeria and Ghana.

He asked a genuine question, it is ok if you cannot provide sufficient answer, but casting aspersions on the other hand doesn't speak well of you.

Lammy has always been in the Labour Party. As far back as 2002, he became under-secretary of State for public health under Tony Blair.

People often mix up David Lammy and Kwasi Kwarteng. Kwasi is a tory (he was the chancellor of the exchequer in Liz Truss' government), while Lammy is labour.

To discuss how to continue keeping the country as one so as to continue to serve their neo colonialistic agenda in the West African region

Gotcha! so how in the world did Kemi Badenoch end up joining the party that is not necessarily not known for being pro minority?

Goodness! UK be changing PM's like crazy. To think that i used to be a fan of parliamentary democracy as opposed to a Presidential democracy just a few years ago for how cheap it is (they don't have a Senate, just a House of reps and the prime minister and his cabinet are mostly members of the house of reps or commons as they like to call it) but looking at how unstable it is, i shall stick with my presidential democracy complete with its over expensive Senate and all. The possible benefit of removing an underperforming PM in weeks instead of waiting for 4 years is offset by the atmosphere of political uncertainty it creates. Let me stick with stability abeg.

You wrote that you thought Lammy was Conservative. I informed you he is not so don't quite understand how this then extends to the talk about Kemi Badenoch.
