Most African leaders are western puppets, enthroned to protect American/western interests.

Know this, and know peace. This is not conspiracy theory.
How about this? Some African countries have not had a lot of educated leaders knowledgeable enough to run their countries. In case you didn't know, running a country is very, very difficult. You have the political side of things and you have the economic and financial side of things which some leaders don't have a background in.
Just imagine, you are a military leader with only a secondary school education or a degree in Veterinary medicine and you are now in charge of a large and very diverse nation in and you are dealing with competing interests within the country and now you have to figure out things like trade policy, competition law, tax policy, govt reforms etc meanwhile your counterparts in the west double or even triple majored in Political science, Economics and Philosophy in school then after that went on to get an MBA and a law degree from some of the best schools in the world where they are thought to think and tackle very challenging problems then after this, they add some real-world experience in the top financial institutions in their country to their CV before joining politics. How in the world do you even think you can even begin to compete with this in policy and trade discussions?

Exchange rate he met at 407 naira to dollar. At official rate. This idiot devalued it to 1600. 4times the value he met. Who is giving him advice.. for Gods sake...
The problem with this administration is that they have not done a good job explaining the concept of currency manipulation that we have been practicing for so long so that the average Nigerian on the street understands it and its long-term debilitating effects on the economy. Most folks do not understand how expensive it is to prop up your currency artificially and how much of your reserves you have to burn through to do that.

Tinubu is not doing well at all, how on Earth do you float your currency against foreign currency that you don't have absolute çontrol over, what manner of leadership is this
they're idiots hoping Dangote and Bua will be competing with each other. Nigeria where we have only two billionaires and the mumu government is talking about market forces. Why should the two billionaires compete with each other when they can sit down, fix price and fleece Nigerians to stupor. Even market women selling garri don't compete, the price one call for you is the price the rest will all call for you regardless of whether the seller got the cassava from her farm or bought it to resell. Market women are fixing price and the naive government are fooling themselves thinking billionaires will compete and bring price down. Dangote and Bua can decide to fix the price of cement at 30k today and nothing will happen. They can decide to fix price of spaghetti at 15k and nothing will happen.

My brother if you know back then pre-floating FOREX how individuals have made BILLIONS OF DOLLARS from FOREX "subsidy", currency racketeering, BTA runs, etc for years eh. You'll weep for this country! Remember a certain nephew to an Ex-President and an ex-CBN gov comes to mind.

How can a country 'subsize' her own currency against a foreign currency? I don't think I've heard that anywhere in the world.

While in Europe, an acquaintance then visited my place from Nigeria and told us how he gets so much USD thru BTA runs with help of his person in a Bank. Its just crazy!

I think it is getting stabilized.
For almost a month, nobody talks about exchange rate. Unlike what we had earlier this year till August and early septemeber
What do you mean? Is this what you call stability?

4 trillion, oga start to de fear God with your lies. Haba

Kobojunkie:
Tinubu spent at least Naira 4 trillion in fuel subsidy in the last 16 months of his being in office even after claiming it was removed. That is Naira 4 trillion that Nigerians will never see again even as they believe that the fuel subsidy was removed by Tinubu government on May 29th, 2023. The money vanished into thin air even as gas prices continued to rise unabated through the months the government kept lying subsidy had been removed. 🤔

Stop blaming Buhari for what Tinubu did to Nigeria and Nigerians. undecided

Government needs to find way to stabilize the exchange rate, it keeps on falling
Govt should not. And should have never try to defend the Naira directly.

The only thing it can do is provide an environment for fair foreign exchange competition and utilisation.

And the downstream sector should be deregulated (un the started the two policies without proper cushions).

There is no economy minister. We have a team of tax collectors. Their only policy is how to collect from the people and concentrate wealth in the hand of the government. That is why you have the worst performing currency in Africa and a galloping inflation with manufacturing companies collapsing by the day. The country descending to destruction.

■ All the reports you are posting are saying "projected to", "expected to" etc to keep prices fixed, so the question is has PMS prices had a fixed since May 29th? In all the report, they start with this "projected to" and then cycle back to telling us the history of the subsidy removal. Not one of them explicitly stated that any subsidy was or is paid. The only one I couldn't read is the one from IMF, perhaps that one would have had more substance.
This whole is about the actual cost of fuel subsidy since May 29, 2023 announcement that the subsidy had been removed. The House is investigating NNPCL's debt of over $3.2 billion which it claims FG owes it. But here you are rambling about some price? huh

This is the second time you state something, provide articles to try to justify your statement and then the articles that you provide end up working against you. You probably know your audience, who will stop at the headline and not go further to read the report, or maybe even you does not read what you post to confirm if it validates your points.

This is the blanket statement that you made with authority.

Yet you provide news contents that all project or believe or expected to... I was hoping to see a document that says government spent the 4T you stated and at least show proof.

Senate investigating a loan or lost is not yet proof, haba, you can do better.

Kobojunkie:
How exactly do you expect the government to go back after it has literally embezzled (and mismanaged the rest) the funds that many have saved from the removal of subsidy, money(in addition to that saved from reducing government bloat) would have sensibly gone to implementing and sustaining Safety Net programs for the poor and disenfranchised?
► Even with all the looting, NNPCL came up with a $6 Billion hole which it probably expected to continue looting Nigerians to pay for. So, where money dey?
►Where do you expect the government to get money to reinstate fuel subsidies of the kind that existed before the May 29th, 2023 debacle? At this point, why? undecided
