Atiku To Trump: Ensure Free And Fair Elections In Nigeria by emkz(op): 7:48am On Nov 07, 2024
Atiku Abubakar, former vice-president, has congratulated Donald Trump for winning the US presidential election.

Trump, the Republican standard-bearer, defeated Vice-President Kamala Harris of the Democratic Party on Wednesday to become the 47th president of the US.

World leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, have sent their congratulations to the president-elect.

In a statement on X, Abubakar said Trump will stand as an enduring testament to the resilience and vitality of the democratic process.

"The narrative of President Trump's political journey, marked by his struggles and triumphs, shall serve as an inspiring parable of courage in the face of adversity — a lesson in the art of rising after every fall, and ultimately, emerging victorious," he said.

"As the world rejoices in the euphoria of his remarkable comeback, it is to be hoped that President Trump will continue his resolute advocacy for credible elections worldwide and remain steadfast in dismantling anti-democratic forces wherever they may lurk."

He said there is a lesson to learn from the integrity of the US election, adding that Trump should ensure Nigeria conduct credible polls in the future.

"The lesson for us in Nigeria is the integrity of the process that ensures a credible outcome. It is the expectation of every Nigerian that the Trump administration will stand resolute in ensuring free and fair elections in Nigeria and other places in the world," he said.

Abubakar was the standard-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election.

In May, Abubakar said he will "keep contesting" for the Nigerian presidency as long as he is hale and hearty.

The politician, who is 77 years old, will be 81 by the time the next presidential election comes around in 2027.

Abubakar has run for the number one office six times, but has been on the ballot as a presidential candidate on three occasions — 2007, 2019, and 2023.

Waziri Adamawa,

As a perpetual aspirant to the presidency of Nigeria, the fundamental thing for you to know is that Nigeria is a sovereign state.

This habit of you calling on foreign entities and a foreign administration to ensure free and fair elections not only undermines Nigeria, it also undermines you. It shows you are not even prepared to become Nigeria's helmsman.

In 2019, you had written a letter to US, UK and EU to report Buhari over constitutional breaches. Why would you do that?

As an aspiring leader, you need to have an air of arrogance concerning your national pride. Watch Tinubu's interview with Peter Okwoche of BBC:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vw8xKpOY97I

Notice the arrogance with which he spoke like someone who gave no balls about anything. As a leader, you need to exude this level of arrogant confidence in projecting your nation before the world.

Now imagine Vladmir Putin calling on Trump administration to ensure free and fair elections in Russia or Keir Starmer asking US to intervene. Even yesterday, leader of the UK opposition Kemi Badenoch questioned Keir Starmer whether he'd ask Trump to apologize for something. Keir Starmer did not respond because national pride was at stake.

Now look at Volodymyr Zelenskyy who is always asking for help and how pitiable he looks. Atiku, see yourself as commander in chief of the opposition. Have an air of arrogance when it comes to love for country. No foreigner must be called to interfere in our nation's electoral system.

Your advisors need to advise you properly so you'd stop embarrassing yourself.

We should keep waiting for others to come and build our country for us... Was he not part of the PDP that ruled and rigged with people like Maurice Iwuhuhhuh??

Imagine shameless talk. POTUS should leave his own primary assignment and be looking after your own election?

Do you call on the US before you stole your country resources to Dubai where you and your fellow shameless thieves invested in their economy?

How did a Nigeria that used to openly impose sactions against the west for their anti Africa policies, become a country that now begs, grovels at the feet of western leaders, as we either solicit for money to survive, or beg for help to run the basics like elections and government utilities? What kind of spirit of inferiority complex has taken over or headsnas Nigerians?

Wetin concern Trump with Nigeria Election. Hope Atiku is not trying to contest again for the next general election. He should leave it for other young and vibrant people in PDP to contest for the 2027 Presidential election in Nigeria.

cheesy

You see why I don't like Nigerian politicans.?

The reason why Atiku is talking like this is because he is in opposition. When he is in power, he would kindly tell the Americans to go away.

The same way atiku is talking is the same way T-PAIN was talking when he was in opposition.

Now sides have changed.

America will not give us free and fair elections. They will happen when NIgerians are ready to make it happen.

P. S Some folks here will insult him based on party or tribe forgetting that this guy can cross party at any time. The I. Q of some Nigerians are below average

Foolish serial election loser

You're nothing but a disgrace to Nigeria, Africa and disgrace to everything democracy stands for.

You didn't win doesn't make INEC a complicit, it doesn't make 2023 election a fraud or as bad as you all make it seem.

If their candidacy or their preferred candidate win, INEC is good and the election went well. But if it's other way round, they wail endlessly and complain. This has always been their way for years.

You're all disgrace to everything good and just humanity stands for.
