In this economy, you have the guts to have 4 kids! You get balls oo, at your small age or is it because you are a footballer? Even MDs and rich people stop having more than 2 kids |

Sonofgod1990:Do you feel any better now? Your comment contributes nothing meaningful here. He’s owed wages for work he’s already done. If we can’t hold employers accountable, they’ll continue withholding salaries from their workers. So, in case you missed it, your comment added no value—it only reflects a narrow and immature perspective. |

At the peak of his career, how did he expend his earnings? Was it that he was never paid, and what happened to the largesse shared after the U-17, he wasn't talking about that but was hammering on the few months wages he's owed. |

Aisheart:My goodness! can't the NFF make sure that everyone who has ever represented us at the international level be given the funds to gain the coaching badges so that they can at least earn a living. That's the least we should be able to do for them for what they did for us in their prime. |

Welcum:How in the world should a whole football club be run by the govt? I can't imagine Barcelona being run by the Catalan govt or Arsenal being run by the city of London. It makes no sense. Man, no one wonder almost nothing works in this country and that's because involves itself in almost everything in the country whether it be soccer teams to hospitals. The govt even gets involved in things that are meant to be in private hands like airlines, farms, oil and gas refineries etc and they wonder why everything in the country is half baked and not prosperous, well golly, I wonder why. The job of the govt is oversight, policy making and regulation. In other words, the job of the govt is to be a referee or umpire and NOT a player in the game. There are things that govt are good at and there are some things they should stay out of simply because they don't have the expertise in it smh. |

This is one of the reason you can't blame some foreign Nigerian players who chose to play for their adopted nations. |

Talkisneeded:Like bro, that statement in itself is just staggering! Like how is that even possible? Like where in the world is a football team state owned? can someone tell me? Can you imagine Bayern Munich being run by their State govt? This is why things don't work in this country because almost every sector is state owned. The fact that most Nigerians still don't understand the role and limitations of govt still blows my mind. Like there are some things that govt should do and there are some things they should stay away from. Let me give you an example. During the OBJ administration, the govt told Shell to come help them run their refineries but Shell turned them down. They said NO! they don't want to work with the amateurs and the unqualified people the govt and I don't blame Shell for that. Can you imagine working with govt appointees who you didn't hire and who are not qualified? do you know how frustrating that could be? who is going to take the blame when things don't work out? Shell? the govt? That's the same thing we are dealing with almost every aspect of life in Nigeria. Can you imagine a govt appointee running an oil refinery or a football club? Imagine how horribly run both organizations will be. Nigeria's problem is not only corruption but mismanagement and this one of the examples of mismanagement. Govt needs to learn to stay in there lane for goodness sakes. |

Life presents us with windows of opportunity. Windows are not open forever. Once one shuts, you have to wait for another to take advantage of it. Featuring in the U-17 winning side is the same window that launched Victor Osimhen, Nwakali, Taiwo Awoyini and many others ike Kanu Nwankwo, Wilson Oruma, Celestine Babayaro, etc. How is it that some flourished and some languished? The answer is simple: time and chance happened to them all. There is a lot I can say about time and chance, but I will probably do a full thread on this. |

davidif:It is the company a person works for that trains that person.. they contacted Shell so that Shell will transfer knowledge to Nigerians but S:hell been an exploitative and colonial company did not agree. Aramco is owned by the Saudi govt.. In Nigeria, the problem is people like you expect people that are not indigenes of the oil rich states to run the oil industry in those states effectively and thats impossible.. Don't expect northerners or Yorubas or whyte people to empower those states.. |

codemaniacs:No, what I don't want is govts telling businesses how to run their business. If I bear 100% of the risk then you have no right to tell me how to run my business period. |

Sadly it cut across every sector, the only reason why afrobeat is soaring so high is because the individual are the major stakeholders... We will be fine one day I sell herbs tho |

davidif:Govt has to set regulations that ensures businesses are not doing anything illegal. So the govt has to tell people how to run their businesses. |

DJInfluence:..that is why all this Nigeria players that play in the nigeria league should have a valid signed contract with the clubs they are playing for in Nigeria ..not contract by mouth.. like the valid contract nigeria players have in foreign clubs abroad..so that when they are owed salaries they can sue the nigeria club to court with evidence of a valid contract and the court judgement will favour the player and the court will tell the nigeria club to pay the player that is owed.. And even Nigeria coach in Nigeria do not have valid signed contract with this nigeria clubs..so this is the problem |

Talkisneeded:Nigeria won't be fine until it has hundreds of thousands of dollar millionaires or millions of dollar millionaires.. But this cannot happen because the govt keeps devaluing the naira and making the naira lose its value which means Nigerians are losing money... |

ufotunang:This is very true. But some of the players won't even know if a contract they signed is favourable to them or not. The players union should be helping them with things like this. |

The guy you quoted is correct. Why will govt forced individuals into shell to train or to work? Allow shell to do the selection themselves. This is the corruption we are talking about! codemaniacs: |
