TOS Estate Residents Face Forced Demolitions In Ikorodu by lagosdaily(op): 10:56am On Nov 07, 2024
Ikorodu, Lagos – The dispute began when residents of TOS Estate in Ikorodu sought to join the Ibeshe GRA II Community Development Association (CDA) to improve security and foster a harmonious neighborhood. Despite initial resistance, the TOS Estate residents were eventually accepted into the CDA.

However, tensions escalated shortly after their inclusion, as some Ibeshe GRA II residents, backed by Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) officials, began claiming ownership over land within the TOS Estate. These individuals have allegedly been harassing residents and demolishing houses, including a recent incident on October 10, 2024.

Through their legal representative, Ezekiel Ogbaide & Co., the affected residents have filed a lawsuit and obtained a court order restraining further demolitions. Despite the legal injunction, the harassment and demolitions continue, causing significant distress and displacement for many families.

The residents accuse LASBCA officials of colluding with the GRA II residents, alleging that two children from TOS Estate were detained on fabricated charges. They are now urging the state government to investigate the matter and take immediate action to protect their rights and property.

Residents of TOS Estate have particularly urged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to intervene and halt what they claim are unlawful demolitions of their homes, reportedly carried out by some Ibeshe GRA II residents in collaboration with LASBCA officials.

Injustice and land grabbing just because you have connections, godfathers and you have many buttons of people in power to press are very much still celebrated in Nigeria.
TOS estate greatest mistake was to join the ibeshe CDA scheme. Now the marriage has led to destruction of their properties after realizing the reason the CDA allowed them was for conquest purposes and not for love, protection and good neighborliness.
If they were alone and make efforts to solve their problems together and not trying to join the CDA scheme they won’t be biting their fingers now.

Land grabbing, they can go to court or pay lawyers all they want their houses will be demolished, there are no justice in Naigeeria, everyone is corrupt in Naigeeria, people see the truth in Naigeeria and glance past it.

Right, now if you have a house on a land or a land that isn't your forefather's ancestral land, be sure that the house might be demolished at some point and your land grabbed. Especially in Lagos, towns and cities in Naigeeria.

I stopped buying lands for building since all these demolishing began, i only buy and re sale.
