About two days ago, an Air Peace flight leaving Lagos to Abuja stopped halfway, with the pilot informing passengers that “unfortunately they do not have enough fuel to get to Abuja, so they must turn back to refuel.” How the hell did they allow them to take off in the first place.

As a matter of fact, my friend’s wife was on the flight. She won’t tell a tale if it caused her trauma. She also said that there were children coming from a school on that same flight

Fuel for aircrafts is usually calculated in ratio to distance/ duration of flight.

The pilot should have known before take-off.

It's not even possible to be an error. It's usually filled on the Flight plan. Before Tower approves take-off.

The diversion was intentional, twasn't a mistake.

Stopping and returning to Lagos at halfway means the remaining fuel can get them to Abuja.

So, it's definitely not halfway. Most probably few minutes into the flight.

This is a serious safety breach and heads must roll.

How, isn't it part of takeoff check

I doubt this story, a pilot has a life and family too, except he plan suicide, no pilot will attempt to fly without enough fuel.
