Sheuns:Thanks for the correction. Yes, many markets in Lagos are no longer on the national grid. The Sura Shopping Complex has also transitioned to solar power. |

I am not a fan of Tinubu or Buhari, but the most important policy to fix Nigeria's electricity problem was empowering the state to generate, transmit and distribute electricity. This will reduce the impact on the national grid and allow productive states to support productive industries. The state government must now be creative, stop wasting funds on airports and overhead bridges, and invest in electricity. Imagine if all states could generate 1000MW each. Nigeria would have 50,000MW |

May God bless all past and present leaders of Lagos. To accelerate progress, let’s mandate each Local Government Area (LGA) to develop 10MW of power annually for four years, totaling 800MW. This would allow LGAs to disconnect public infrastructure from the national grid and provide affordable electricity to select customers. |

The Baba Adinni of Nigeria, Chief Wahab Iyanda Folawiyo. He is still announced as the sponsor of Islamic sermons in Yoruba on Radio Lagos even years after his earthly departure. He must have insisted that the Yoruba Islamic radio evangelism must continue after he is gone. He really left his name in gold. Thank you OP for sharing. I am grateful 🙏 |

Lagos truly did Lagos wrong since 1999 yet we move. Please when it comes to visionary leadership give it to Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I have been a disciple of his school of leadership and politics since 1999 and I have never regretted it. We are on course in Lagos and there is no going back. |

MrAmbrose:Some of us knew and thats why we wanted TINUBU at all cost. Some of you just wanted Obi. I've been in Lagos since 2003, I also live in Lekki and I have an idea of what Tinubu has done in Lagos which most of you HAVE NO IDEA. If you have 100% KNOWLEDGE of Tinubu's achievement as LAGOS GOVERNOR, you'll vote him over Obi if election is held 100 times. |

AntiZikist:There's Shiroro, Zungeru and maybe Jebba if still active. I think Mambilla is work in progress. The Northern states can easily set up solar power plants that will generate more power than is being done in Lagos. |
| Re: The Lagos Electricity Journey by naptu2(op): 5:20pm On Nov 09, 2024*. Modified: 5:37pm On Nov 09, 2024 |
delpee:Kainji, Jebba, Geregu, Shiroro, Zungeru, Kashimbila, Mambilla, etc The North has a lot of opportunities to generate power. The National Grid is not the problem and it wasn't established to favour the North. The problem is that we do not pay enough for power. One of the reasons that the National Grid is always collapsing is because there isn't enough money to maintain and replace equipment. Another reason is because of sabotage and vandalism (but that also involves money, since you need to spend money to protect the equipment). The fact is that grids like this exist all over the world because they make electricity cheaper (more people sharing the cost) and they provide options (it's a network and you can take power from one area to replace power that is lost in another area of the network). |
