thats how they configured the system, IW and normal interview people are lumped together to struggle for dates................e no make sense

There were discrepancies or lies in the information you supplied to the VO regarding the birthing of your American daughter or the VO just felt that you have withheld some information. Sit down and remind yourself such info because it has been noted down and you are still going to be quiz on it.

In the section which ask , Were You Refused a Visa Recently ? Your answer should be like :

Yes i was refused under ina 214b in which i forgot to bring so and so documents regarding the birthing of my baby but i now have everything handy. Or simply , I was refused under ina 214b which was best known to the consular but i respect his or her decision. Right now, i am certain all of my circumstances is perfect for the renewal of my visa.

Hi Guys,
Please I need suggestions; my mom had her interview on Wednesday where she was denied. She had qualified for IW but was given the form 221g and we were able to get interview date( we paid since 2022). She was denied because she over stayed. The VO asked why and she said it was Covid but he pointed out to her that she ought to hv come back even before the shut down
Also asked what she was doing- my mom is retired and was spending time with her elder sister who is also retired ( told the VO this)
Asked how many kids she has and how many were in the country
Asked who was responsible for her upkeep all through the stay in the US to which she answered that I was the one responsible

My question is- can we reapply? And how soon? As the other reason for wanting to go to the US is my cousins wedding holding later in 2025.

She'll still have to answer to the time she overstayed.

How long did she overstay?
You might want to put off travelling for a bit longer.

Oh wow; but this wouldn’t affect other countries right? I am about applying for her Canada renewal to come visit me

It was the Covid year. She was to come back January as that’s when her 6mnths ended but she stayed. The shut down happened by March- immediately airports opened she came bck which was by October

Then they are right your mum overstayed. She could have come back before March..even that would have been over staying .

You can try Canada visa renewal , I doubt it will affect it.

Thanks for your response. I also have the same issue, so should I just choose consulate appointment and time then take my document to OIS for submission?

What if my OIS and Avitt dates are different ?

They can’t be different.Pick dates that’s match .Before you could just use your ois appointment date ,but now ois seems to want ppl to come on the dates they picked on avits.

Hello everyone , I greet you all , I have been following this trend 2 years when I was planning to apply my us visa which was successful and I came to the trend again earlier this year watching for updates as I know I had plans of renewal .

I paid for my visa renewal in March, my visa was going to expire in July 15 but I entered US on June 29th, stayed till July 7th and went to Canada then came back to US and stayed till August 30th.

While booking my appointment for renewal, I put my old ds160 number because I didn’t have time to fill a new one then , I hoped I will change it before the appointment and then they moved to a new platform and it wasn’t possible to change it anymore .


I went ahead and filled a new one and took it to the appointment and i explained to them that I have a new ds16o form different from the one on my profile and it was accepted without any issue , I have seen many people here who are worried about their new ds160, don’t worry at all, just take your new one to the appointment and make sure you mention it .


I submitted my passport on 23rd of October and I kept tracking it and by the grace of God , it was approved on the 4th of November and issued the next day , this morning I got a mail to pick up my passport at OIS but unfortunately the am not in Lagos till end of the month .


My plans has always been to make sure I renew

You can no longer do that. You will go with the two DS160 and they will help you update it on the interview date. My mum did that today as well.

After paying for the visa and the payment was verified. I was asked to choose the day I intend to travel. Which I selected. The make page I saw was this and I have been stuck here for 3days now

You can reapply as soon as possible, and as soon as your mom is ready to display good ties to Nigeria which will give the consular assurance that she is not going to overstay.

US visa denial is not a capital punishment. Sometimes, they want to test your travel reason which means ,if what you are traveling for is genuine and important, you will reapply.

You can raise a ticket on our profile and attach the new ds160 confirmation page, they will update it for you, its safer and easier to do it before you get there

As a retiree, the consular will fear that she might want to go and retire finally to America so you need to create ties or activities for her in Nigeria .

Eg, her husband, children and grand children, she is an active elder in the church or mosque, she just opened a big hypermarket and she is the acting CEO. She is the secretary of her employer retirees pension payment department, etc.

The last part is, she should be able to communicate her activities with the consular . Some of her ties should be well indicated in the form ds 160. She may not have time to talk much so ds 160 will say the rest.

Hi, pls how else can she show good ties to Nigeria? My 2 younger ones are in Nigeria with their family, she has a house in Nigeria as well even though she is retired.

Your mom overstayed her visa by more than 180 days. She's likely banned from applying for a US visa for 10 years.
