I don't understand this ratio.

83% of my income on food, 48% of same income on transportation, 38% of still same income on Bills and Utilities, yet again clothing is taking 35% of same income and the rest.

Shouldn't the total percentage be 100? I'm not understanding this analysis.
You spoke my mind

Despite the fact that the economy is crazy at the moment.
The lack of financial intelligence among Nigerians has only made it worse.

Ask how many Nigerians have HMO and you would be surprised.
You can't spend N300k to cover your family for a year but you will suddenly have 100k to pay a one time bill for just one person's illness.

If you ask me it's Penny-Wise-Pounds-foolish.
This is so annoying and unbelievable that many Nigerians don't know about insurance.
There are HMOs as low as 5k monthly, Lagos State has one Ilera Eko for 12k thereabouts for a whole year.
Lots of enlightenment is needed!

Private HMOs go for as low as even 2k per person for a month. a family of 4 will be 8k a month. For me it does not even have to company HMO every responsible man should have a health insurance cover. It's cheaper. What happens when his child falls ill in the middle of the month when all the money he has left is for transport to and fro work?
People need to be made to understand these things, they don't know that HMO is cheaper that walking into the hospital and paying bills...
some 2k HMO even cover surgeries, depends on the provider
God bless you. I earnestly hope that many people get to know about this.

What HMO would you recommend for a family person who previously used an HMO under a company’s umbrella but has stopped working?
Check out axa manxard or Google list of HMos in Nigeria and check their websites for their offerings.
Or if u live in Lagos, you can try the Lagos HMO, Ilera Eko.

Even now that MC oluomoburuku is now the president of the nurtw,
the coast is becoming clearer for tifnubu in 2027 presidential election. The only hope is if the majority of the northerners can vote against him then few votes from other parts of the country can add up to that, he will surely not win the election, but we still have inec and the judiciary to tackle, they have been completely bought by tifnubu. May GOD come to our rescue 🙏

Tpain you do this one. You turned Nigerians into calculators.
Re: Top 10 Things Nigerians Spend Their Money On Amid Hardship by IfnobeGod20(m): 1:11pm On Nov 10, 2024
Richtaiwo:
Percentages, ratios and fractions are records of mutually exclusive events. Occurrence of one implies non occurence of the other. You can't toss an unbiased coin once and get head & tail at the same time.

Similarly, you can't spend 100% of your total earning on one thing and still spend another 80% of that same earning on another. 100% expenditure on one excludes 0.00000000001% expenditure on another.

Additionally, nowhere in the narrative was this implied. If the statistics is an independent analysis, it should be presented as such. Alternatively, average of all the samples or records can be taken and expressed as percentage.
The maker of the record may not be a statistician or someone with sound knowledge of percentage distribution. The sampling might have been independent analysis. Each variable might have been in form of yes or no and he should have made a preamble of that before the final submission.
Yes, what you're saying it is the truth but I am only looking at it in another arithmetic approach.

There are about 8 million people that visits nairaland daily and you feel the whole 8million people are living in abject poverty like you.

Okay let me break it down for you, out of the 8million people some are millionaires, some are big contractors, some are students, some are yahoo boys, some are police, some are celebrity, some are Nigerians living in diaspora, some are IPOB members, some are foreigners etc, etc, etc, etc.

Several different kinds of people are on nairaland. Not just lowlives like you.

This percentage is unnecessary. Just list the assumed necessities, in no particular order of importance. Food is the only that can take the number 1 spot
