Lukawaras: Acting COAS Oluyede Storms Sokoto by Dapromzy333(op): 6:36am On Nov 11, 2024
Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, the Acting Chief of Army Staff, has commenced his first operational tour in the 8th Division’s Area of Responsibility, arriving in Sokoto to assess ongoing military operations, News360 Nigeria reports.

His visit comes amid escalating security concerns, including the emergence of the new terror group known as ‘Lukurawa,’ which has been destabilizing regions in Sokoto and Kebbi states.

During his stay, Oluyede will engage with the Sultan of Sokoto and other significant local stakeholders to strengthen civil-military relations and improve cooperation in tackling security threats. Additionally, he is set to address troops involved in Operation Fasan Yamma, where he will offer guidance and commend the soldiers for their active efforts in countering terrorist activities.

This visit is significant as the Defence Headquarters recently announced the presence of the Lakurawa group, which has increased the complexity of security challenges in five local government areas in Sokoto.

“Troops are confronted with a new terrorist sect in the North-West. This sect is known as Lukawaras, the Lukawaras are affiliated to terrorists in the Sahel particularly from Mali and Niger Republic,” General Buba said.

He explained that the Lukurawa group’s presence in Northern Nigeria, especially in Sokoto and Kebbi, followed a pathway from Niger and Mali. This new group’s incursion reportedly began after a coup in Niger, which disrupted longstanding military cooperation between Nigeria and its northern neighbor.

The military has also placed nine terrorists on its wanted list due to their involvement in recent security crises affecting the region.

The North is sitting on a keg of gunpowder.

It would soon be a crime not to be a fellow terrorist in a region where many are poor but a few are filthy rich.
Re: Lukawaras: Acting COAS Oluyede Storms Sokoto by Edygrin(m):
Same script as usual which will achieve no result. Buhari ordered the then COAS to relocate to Borno, what did it achieve? Nothing, infact Boko Haram rebranded to Herdsmen and still cause mayhem.

For the north that keeps creating new terrorist factions anytime a Southerner is in power to grab back power please don't stop, keep killing yourselves, the sympathy from the south and indeed the world has gone.

No one will create hashtags or protest for anyone to bring back your girls this time. It worked in 2014 but you see this time? Nobody get that time, the south will be in power for 8 years.

The possibility of weak governments leading to increased terrorist uprisings is a concern on the horizon. As we look ahead, it will be crucial to consider how ECOWAS's advice unfolds, while also prioritizing the maintenance of cordial relationships with neighbouring countries.

The Northern group is easily manipulated. If they are in the South, this sect will likely be isolated because they will struggle to integrate into a typical southern environment. Just seeing a group that speaks a different language can raise suspicions. This can also be linked to their lower educational background and IQ levels.

It's seems the Northerners' brotherliness is also their calamity. If not, why allow people from Mali, Niger into your community, because they speak Hausa/Fulani.

The key issues shaping Nigeria are the easy manipulated people of the North, the pervasive distrust in the Southwest, and tribalism in the East. These factors are critical and must be acknowledged.

If the Northerners are ready, they will fish them out. That's if the sect have not started recruiting them. During the last protest you can see their active protesters are kids, what makes you think this kids can't join them once promised 3 square meal in a day.

Tinubu administration as made it easy for the North to accommodate Terrorism.
