Why spend that amount? Was the building damaged during a war? Or did an earthquake damage the building? If none of this happened then there is no way renovation will cost 5billion naira. |

nedekid:That PO wears the same style of outfit for all social events doesn't mean he does live a personal that reflects how much he owns. You wouldn't know if he flies private most times, or the cost of his vacation homes or how his kids live. You have to know that people let you see what they want you to see. I have nothing against PO personally, but my point is, all politicians are the same. He is no saviour. They are only after their interest. Don't for second think he is any different because of tribal affiliations or other personal reasons. |

YOU PEOPLE NEED TO GET REAL. 5 BILLION NAIRA sounds like a lot of money, but it's only $2.9 million. Nigerian government will never get to a point where they WON'T spend 2 or 3 million dollars to renovate a Vice President's official residence, when they are spending billions of dollars on public projects like the 2nd Niger Bridge that cost $2 billion, or N3.5 trillion. And then it will now reach to fund the VP's lodge, and you will bring out what? $100,000? Come on.. This is Nigeria. Part of the perks of being in such high office is that you will reside in elite settings. When it reaches your turn, tell them you don't want. |

Ironfaceman:You are obviously ill-informed. Buhari had enacted PIA before Tinubu came,PMB had also signed 2023 appropriation Act into law,how then do you expect Tinubu to pay fuel subsidy when the extant law had made it difficult for him? How can a serious country be operating multiple exchange rates and you think that's the right thing? A few are benefitting from the arbitrage and you want Tinubu to continue such practice? Difference between official rate and parallel market was so wide that are a few Nigerians are taking its advantage. Certain corrective measures put in place by this government make things difficult at the moment no doubt, but it is inevitable. 1.4 million barrel of crude at less than $100 for a long time, yet 69 different loans obtained by successive governments are being repaid,$7billion FX backlog settled, foreign reserve raised to near $41billion,debt to revenue ratio reduced from 97% to 65%, alk these are positive developments |
| Re: Tinubu Government Spends ₦5 Billion To Renovate Vice President Shettima’s House by IfnobeGod20(m): 5:45am On Nov 12, 2024 |
Tinubu's government is not truthful at all. In one hand citizens should endure but in another hand they are spending the common patrimony with reckless abandon. Building new residence for the VP at the a huge cost of 15b and now renovating his Lagos residence with another 5b, one will be tempted to ask, is there where it is written that leaders should not endure like the citizens are enduring? APC government is the most insincere government I have ever witnessed. They are not truthful but out to rip the country down and enrich their pockets with common patrimony. My people, all this money they are raking is for a purpose, to buy their way in 2027. The same money they suppose to use and develop the economy to prefer to hide them for an election and be giving the unsuspecting citizens stipend. Olorun Oba lo le ko wa yo. |
| Re: Tinubu Government Spends ₦5 Billion To Renovate Vice President Shettima’s House by IfnobeGod20(m): 6:06am On Nov 12, 2024 |
kunle4toyeyaho:All what you wrote is what I hate hearing. Why should any serious leader punish the generality of the people because of the few in the society? Can those committing such sharp practice be arrested and made example so that the rest that wished to do same will be restricted? It was the same thing they said about subsidy that some cabal are the ones benefitting from the subsidy regime. All these senseless leaders and senseless followers punishing the downtrodden because of the few in the society. May God punish them in return. Besides, this your argument about Buhari already removed subsidy is untenable. The subsidy regime was to be terminated at the end of June but your Tinubu myopically and anxiously announced its removal on the day of his inauguration in May 29, when we still have a full month to its expiration. If Tinubu has the power to announce subsidy total removal when we still have a month, and that June subsidy payment had been budgeted for, please what stopped him to have waited till that date as to be able to review the policy? You guys should stop deceiving yourself. Hoping you know there is an info that says same subsidy is still been paid for till date? If Tinubu within a month that he assumed office can request for supplementary budget and he did that twice last year, please what stopped him to doing same for subsidy payment? Again, if the same Tinubu can request for senate to alter the police act to prolong the tenure of IGP, what stops him from doing same for the PIA act? Mr. Man, all the gains you listed are nothing with government policies dipping the citizens further into poverty and the same government is paying for debt but incurring more debt than the previous government. It is on record that Tinubu's government have borrowed more than half of what Buhari's government borrowed in his 8 years reign and you ask yourself who is deceiving who? Tinubu can only deceive your kind and your ilks but not people that want the country to move forward. I hope you read that the same government you're backing just expended another 5b in renovating VP residence in Lagos after they have expended 15b in building new residence in Abuja, aside the riotous spending they have incurred. Kolorun oba ko wa yo lo wo ijoba akonileru. |

Tellmeastory:With this your mindset, this nation would never move forward. The same office was occupied by Osibanjo and he rejected building new residence for him or renovating any apartment because he knew the country doesn't have the luxury to waste such huge amount of money. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/199156-n6billion-spent-new-vice-presidents-residence-waste-resources-vp-osinbajo.html&ved=2ahUKEwi2ntjXg9aJAxUXYEEAHX99HxwQFnoECBQQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2zFkUMR10PAWiCFVtkEuyK Osibanjo even called it a waste. IfnobeGod20:Stop expecting all Nigerian leaders to be like Osinbajo. In your own family is everyone the same? The nation needs to INCREASE ITS ANNUAL INCOME through continued diversification away from oil, into manufacturing, the services, taxation etc. Our annual budget is $35 billion. We need at least a $70 billion annual budget to make real headway. THAT's what we should be focused on, not this nonsense of penny-pinching how much officials should spend on residences. PEANUTS MONEY. CHICKEN CHANGE. Expecting govt officials to live like normal, regular Nigerians is just a foolish dream. IT WON'T HAPPEN. |

SilverSnow:All politicians are not the same hailer of bad government. The same largesse was rejected by Osibanjo, you can read the news here: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://thenationonlineng.net/osinbajo-rejects-multi-billion-new-vp-residence/&ved=2ahUKEwi2ntjXg9aJAxUXYEEAHX99HxwQFnoECBsQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2IEEmPrOXvLr9z7nRBNFyT There are politicians that doesn't live flamboyant lifestyle, they are moderate at spending common patrimony. The set wie have now are ojelus and not lover of the country. They are unpatriotic leaders masquerading as patriotic leaders. Osibanjo vehemently rejected the largesse. |

Tellmeastory:But you claimed it was part of the perk of the office and because it was budgeted for, then, it must be spent. Why it was part of the budget, Osibanjo vehemently rejected it because of the economy situation that was not as harsh as we have it now. That is what we called application of common sense and putting yourself in the shoe of those you're leading. The people we have at the helm of affair today are all ojelus and capitalists people. Awon set ole agbewiri. |

IfnobeGod20:STORY. Osinbajo is a pastor, so he thinks like a pastor. Most Nigerians do not reason like him, so you're not going to have leaders who all think like Osinbajo. Just accept that the leaders will live in luxury settings as they have always done. It's the Nigerian way. We're naturally ostentatious even when we don't have money, talk less of when we're controlling billions of dollars. Hold the leaders to account based on the actual economic development policies and progress they achieve, not this nonsense about how much was spent on house renovation for the VP and stuff. These are Nigerians controlling tens of billions of dollars. Don't expect them to live in ordinary settings. |

Tellmeastory:This is regrettable that in your comments you're swinging and rocking like rocky chair and unstable in words. In one length you're against flamboyant lifestyle and in another breadth you're giving life to it by supporting same. I thought dey say what no go no good bi e name. Please is Osibanjo a spirit or he has special spirit in him that made him differ from the rest of the leaders. Osibanjo was only been conscious and patriotic and not because he is a Pastor he refused the largesse. It's a patriotic call from him to do that while the ojelus are only there for their own pockets and the enjoyment of the perk of the office as you say. You guys should continue be swinging from left to right and not stay and focus on what is right and think things will get better on their own accord. Awon ole jaguda gbewiri people. |
