Hello nairalander, 2 years ago, I asked you guys advice concerning my house project. I’m really grateful , I’ve been able to roof the house and take it to 80% completion, for now I want to stop working on the project for reasons best known to me.

I’m now living alone and I’ve been able to build my business for two years now, it’s on auto pilot 🚀 now.
I’m 27.. I need a car!

I’m hoping to buy it between now and by April next year latest…( crypto bull run 😃😃)
I used to sell cars and lands through referal years ago though but I have zero car knowledge.

As a first time car owner which of these cars will you recommend for me.

1. Lexus rx 350 2010-12
2. Camry 2013
3. Camry 2015
4. Lexus es 350 2010

I noticed the Camry 2013 and 2015 have same interior.

My budget will be 20m maximum ..

Pls your advice should be about these cars alone and alone , not other brands or types, not other topics .
Road to my house is good.
I’ll only be taking it to my shop and gym , both places are not far to my house atall.
Pls I need the car o, I don’t want investment advice abeg,

Make your choice.

Camry for fuel economy with its 4cylinder engine variant, the 2.5L 2ARFE.

For the V6 camry it shares some engine part with the Lexus ES, but lexus has more luxury than toyota badge so if fuelling isnt an issue then for sedan the ES350 is better and more superior in everything than a camry even with the 5years difference.

The RX is less fuel efficient but has a good ground clearance and many luxury gadgets even than the ES. i always advocate for CUV which the RX is categorised as to help with bad roads. For me

RX350 > ES350 > camry 2015 i4 > Camry 2012 i4 > camry V6

Lexus Rx command respect but if you looking fore fuel eco and easy cheap maintenance go for Camry 2015

But my advice to you is get a SUV maybe 4 plug if mind fuel consumption. Thank me later

Car not easy to use again ooo, make sure you think deeply, about ur income and expenditure before you embark on such journey.


You ask urself first, will you be able to sustain 7k-10k for fuel alone on daily, excluding spare parts (if your working place not far from your house, if not , I will advise you to shelve the plan.


Very easy to bay car, but to maintain it, it's a tedious task during Tinubu reign.

NB. Make sure you ask for spare parts as well!

I will recommend a Camry 4 cylinder..year to your preference.. though I will recommend 2012 Camry .

Surf for the car yourself online and ship it to Nigeria and clear it.
It will be better so as to know the history of the car and any prior repairs or open recall.

I buy most of my cars from Iaai auction and transport it myself to the port cos of accuracy in terms of the vehicle condition..
Copart auction sucks cos they aren't too accurate in terms of the vehicle condition report.

Fuel economy is top notch
Buy a recent model like 2015 if u can.

I use to fear Honda because of leg problems
But they have fixed it in recent models

I have 2015 Camry tokunbo for 13.5m 2023 entry. Very clean. 08082786748. Location: lekki,Lagos.

Camry 2015. It has an improved transmission and fuel economy is better than the 2013. Outside that, everything else (internally) remains largely unchanged.

Avoid that ES350 like a plague.

I would have recommended the 2012 ML350 GLE BENZ but you don't want any other brand.

So far your road to your house is good, Camry 2013 esp Sport edition... But for long distance drive, go for Rx350... He get why majorly I dey cruise my sienna on long distance because of Bad road, Camry good when the terrain is good and motorable ...

You should rather take a public transport.Betterstill Walk,jog or take a bike for your fitness and health.Car can be necessary when you have a family to take during emergencies or shoppings,otherwise it's not very much needed.

I won't recommend Camry whether 2013 or 2015. Reason being that it's too low to the ground. So if you're in an environment with bad roads, you'll keep changing your front bumper cos it would keep breaking every now and then.

If you have the funds to maintain an Rx350, I'll advise you to go for it. See let me tell you. There's no much difference between an i4 engine and a V6 engine with regards to fuel consumption. I've used both.

It's all about how well you maintain your car and how regularly you change your oil, replace your air filter, maintain proper tire pressure...etc.

Finally don't go for Nigeria used. No matter how much prospective sellers try to convince you. Buy tokumbo. Most Nigerian used cars are sold by their owners because it's giving them problems. So if you use your hard money to purchase it, you've inherited whatever problem(s) that made the previous owner sell it.

Get the RX and enjoy life. Its high clearance, has the luxury perks and can move when you need it to. This is a combination you won't get with all the other options stated.

Why not buy something small to start perfecting your driving skills? You can easily dispose of it later, and you can make your decision then.
The first car would add financial value which might propel you to go for something bigger, and you would have the required driving skills and technicality.
