Independent candidacy is a great idea. And it's long overdue.
But answer this: if with a large party structure Obi couldn't monitor all the polling units and electoral materials pre and post elections, how's he going to do so as an independent candidate bearing in mind that the average Igbo person (which forms over 95% of his support based) would rather return to their shop after voting, if at all they have the time to vote, than to stay and monitor the election process?

When Independent Candidacy Comes,, a lot of things would answer themselves practically -- without the need for any theories.
