Getting on the floor, lowering my body to touch the ground and pushing it back up. Continuing the activity repeatedly because I saw my friends do ten press-ups and I could only manage three.

Decades later, it made me healthier than my peers, makes me look good in clothes and has granted me more female attention than the average man. People also use my physique as an icebreaker into conversations.

I did not plan to go to college but I was very smart. My friend that I followed Upanda traveled oversea and one of his friends told me to enroll in college and he would even help me to get in without a complete O’level certificate. He got me into YabaTech in 2002. I had a carried over for the final semester of my OND and I decided not to go back again, but I met a guy who lives in Ikorodu and exposed me to SAT. He told me that he would help me out and I could get a scholarship studying in America. I sold the video game and little clothes and gave him the money to help me out. It never turned out well and after going to Ikorodu like 3 or 4 times, I let go the money. But using SAT to travel stuck in my head for good. I had a scholarship in 2006 and the rest is now history. With the way things are very hard now in Nigeria, I have no regrets that what is just for the sons and daughters of the rich folks in Nigeria was achieved by me in 2006.

I have an uncle and a aunt in USA and all the families depend on them and I tried to be friend with them but the snub was obvious. I got a US visa and they were asking me how did I do it when I got to America. Do it yourself, it takes time and a lot of patience.
It will even help your survival mode in Overseas. If Western governments don’t help you to succeed nobody else will do, except on rare occasions.

I stopped doubting myself and underestimating my talent and abilities, so I could actually do things I normally thought was once impossible. I started believing in myself to do stuffs.
