True, Dollar has risen ten fold against the naira. The budget should be in the 200 trillion range at ok least with efficiency.

The proposed 47.9 trillion Naira budget is substantial. Hopefully, it will yield meaningful development and progress across various sectors, without succumbing to embezzlement.

If I was this minister, I will make the document public so that with many eyes viewing the document, it can help them scrutinize the budget so as to identify the padding that civil servants may have inserted into the budget.

Expectedly, by the time the budget is presented to the House, we will start seeing strange values and fictitious projects.
You see, you no see, public or not, they will still approve it and share the money within themselves, you can't do anything, the only time rambling and outburst will occur is when some people did not receive their share or they got little than was expected.

Smh.

That you think N47.9 trillion is no longer big money alone shows that you are not rich. Go and work hard to raise N1 million first then come back.

Even by USA standard, $28 billion is a whopping amount and if you think that US dollars is actually gaining more value because of naira's devaluation then it means that you don't understand economics. If USD is as strong and valuable as you think, Americans will not have voted against the democrats on the ground of economics. They complained bitterly that they now need more dollars to buy items and pay for services.

The devaluation of naira does not improve the lot of USA or the US dollars, the US is not even our biggest trading partner, it actually favours naira more and we now eventually stopped subsidizing the US dollars.

International Monetary agencies will later come around to beg us to raise the value of the naira as more US dollars will soon start chasing fewer naira yet we will keep the value of naira low to further favour our economy. In the long run, most of the US dollars flowing into Nigeria won't return to the US and the portion that goes out ends up in countries other than the US yet you are under the illusion that N47.9 trillion that's made artificially cheap, is not big. Smh.

You are correct that Pandora Bitter Obi stepped aside to make T-Pain's ebilokan turn possible to continue APC's shege that was fraudulently packaged as change nine years ago.

jameshankss:
Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has said he is sure the candidate of Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, would lose the 2023 presidential election. Soludo said he would not submit to the bullying of Obi’s supporters, who recently descended on him for addressing issues in the state.

The governor made the comments in a lengthy write-up personally authored, with the title, “History Beckons, and I Will Not Be Silent (Part 1).”

Soludo said Obi was inadvertently making the pathway to victory much easier for the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and at the same time, toying with the destiny of millions of Ndigbo.

But the chief spokesperson for the Labour Party Presidential Campaign, Yunusa Tanko, accused Soludo of being sponsored by some unknown persons to weaken the base of the party in the South-east.

The former CBN governor had been under intense attack for close to a week for dismissing Obi’s investment in the state as amounting to nothing, during a television interview.

Soludo said in the write-up, “My attention has been drawn to some of the tirades on social media following my frank response during an interview on Channels TV regarding the ‘investments’ Mr. Peter Obi claimed to have made with Anambra State revenues.

“Sadly, several of the comments left the issue of the interview to probe or suggest motives, inferred from my response on ‘investment’ that I am opposed to Peter Obi’s ambition and, therefore, committed a ‘crime’ for which the punishment is internecine abuse and harassment, even to my family.

“Everyone knows that I don’t follow the winds or one to succumb to bullies, or shy away from a good fight especially, when weighty matters of principles and future of the people are involved.”

Soludo said he had urged Obi to return to his former party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), to actualise his presidential bid. He added that he had always told the LP candidate to his face that he was not capable of winning the 2023 presidential election, especially, under LP, which had neither a councillor nor a local government chairman.

Soludo said Obi was not just his friend, but also his brother, but despite that, they have their political differences.

He stated, “For full disclosure, let me state that Peter Obi and I are not just friends, we call ourselves ‘brothers’. But we have political differences: he left APGA for PDP after his tenure as governor, while I have remained in APGA since 2013.

“During the last two governorship elections in Anambra in 2017 and 2021, he led the PDP campaigns but APGA won landslide in both elections. By the way, in 2016, he visited and proposed that I defect to PDP and contest the 2017 election against the incumbent Willie Obiano, but I declined.

“After my victory in November 2021, he called to congratulate me, as I did to him in 2010. That is the Anambra way: we fight fiercely during campaigns but share drinks at the next social events. After all, it was the Great Zik of Africa, who taught us that in politics, there are no permanent friends or permanent enemies but only permanent interests.”

Arguing that Obi’s presidential bid would only work in favour of Tinubu, Soludo said, “Indeed, if I were Asiwaju Tinubu, I would even give Peter Obi money as someone heading one of the departments of his campaign, because Obi is making Tinubu’s pathway to victory much easier by indirectly pulling down PDP.”

Obi, according to Soludo, would only deplete the votes of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and pave the path for an APC victory.

He stated, “The current fleeting frenzy, if not checked, will cost Ndigbo dearly for years. The South-east has the lowest number of votes of any region, but it is also the only region where the presidential race might be a four-way race (it is a two-way race in the other five regions) thereby, ensuring that our votes won’t count in the making of the next president of Nigeria.

Nairapeople:
Multi-millionaire blogger, Linda Ikeji is in a battle with the Lagos Inland Revenue Service over an alleged tax evasion and it is authoritative.
It was gathered that all attempts to track down the blogger started about a month ago when the agency got information that the blogger has not been remitting necessary taxes to the state government but all attempts by the service were said to have been
frustrated.

A source informed that at a time she was to be served a notice of tax assessment, her father who was to receive the letter allegedly declined to do so saying she could not receive such a notice on behalf of Linda.
On the second occasion, the delivery man was turned back on the excuse that no individual known as Linda Ikeji was resident at the address traced to her business.

The agency however got their way last week as she was said to have been served at her new mansion in highbrow Banana Island while the inland revenue equally made a video and photo evidences to support the service.
A very reliable source at the tax office informed News of the People that checks conducted on the blogger revealed that she had only paid (N4,000) four thousand naira ever as tax to the state government.

At the moment LIRS is said to be requesting for her tax assessment of personal income with a caveat that failure to do so may compel them to proceed to court for a criminal proceedings.

A particular issue raised by a source was the withholding tax ought to have been paid to the state government on the 600 million naira property she recently acquired which may amount to about 30 million naira only.
It was hinted that if the blogger refuses to respond to the request of the inland revenue, the agency shall be forced to drag her to court to face the music.

When the blogger was contacted on the issue by this medium, she neither responded non acknowledged the message sent to her.

How is $28 billion for 200 million Nigerians in one year for federal government functions a whopping sum?

Where did the comment you quoted say that APC's devaluation of our Naira since 2015 improve the lot of Americans huh

edoyad:
Owerri – The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, on Monday said he would ensure that the Naira was equal to the dollar in value, if voted into office.

Buhari stated this during the South-East presidential rally of the party at Dan Anyima Stadium, Owerri. “It is sad that the value of the naira has dropped to more than N230 to one dollar; this does not speak well for the nation’s economy,’’ he said. He urged the people to vote for APC, noting that he would ensure that corruption was tackled headlong if elected.

Maybe the wisdom of Stockholm syndrome mental slaves huh

The lack of state-owned pipe-borne water in the homes of Lagos residents has continued to be a source of concern, a non-profit group, Corporate Accountability and Public Advocacy Africa (CAPPA) has said.

At a press event to mark this year’s World Water Day, the group said its monitoring team’s visit to state-owned waterworks showed that most of them are not operational.

The group said the waterworks it visited include the ones at Maryland, Mushin, Ikorodu, Obalende, Agbowa, Onikan, Ikoyi, and Amuwo Odofin.

Only the one in Ikoyi is producing water, according to CAPPA.
