The first and last time I tried this with Dad’s car, I chop like 2 slap. But with Mom’s car it was almost on a daily until I got my first job and a small car.

Na only Mums una fit try this with.
Did it with my Dad's Mercedes 230.
Unfortunately, he just turn the engine oil and yet to refill it. My elder bro and I left church service and Dad stayed back. Bro said he want to teach me how to drive. We did drove the car for about 20 minutes and he gave me the staring to return home. Coming home, we learn Dad had gone the opposite direction to look for us, meeehn, we heard insults upon insults. His anger wasn't about us going out, it was about the engine that may soon go knocked 🤢🤢

Dad swear to Never hand over his key to us, but, after my elder bro passed away in 2017, I became his frequent errand boy with his car key mostly in my room.

How did you put an automatic gear car in ā€œdriveā€ and you were still able to push it out without starting the engine? I’m just curious.

We used to put our dad’s manual Mitsubishi car in neutral gear and then push it out without turning it on.

Nice write up. Brings back memories…
Turn on the ignition (don't start the engine), engage your gear to anywhere you want, from reverse to neutral to drive.
Turn off the ignition when you are done to save battery but don't put it on lock mode so you can turn the steering

Re: Sneaking Out With Mums Car by GboyegaD(m): 2:36pm On Nov 15, 2024
Never did because I felt I don't want trouble. My younger brother was the opposite. My parents used to go out in one car because my mom was selling at Tincan while my dad's office was at Aerodrome Road in Apapa and the other car was always home. The height was when my brother knocked the engine of my dad's car and he did nothing to him all because his name is Babatunde. That guy did all the unbearable because he knows my dad would only rant and goes Babatunde, how can I beat my father. I dislike that name to the highest heaven back then because I had to do chores way beyond necessary because Babatunde wouldn't do anything.

I started driving when I was 19 years. Dad had a car then but it wasn't his car I started with. Dad wasn't rich, if I had my way that money should have gone to business and not a car. At the end, he sold it because it was becoming more of a liability than asset.
I did motorboy and that's where I learned driving. Later on, Dad bought another car and I continued from there.

I pray we will give our kids the life we couldn't get bro ...

Back in Uni days (2002-2006) I also did this a lot and got into trouble alot of times with my dad's car and mums car.
Sometimes I will return the car in peace sometimes with damages, scratches etc.
But I will never ever forget one catastrophic experience back in secondary school, when 4 school mates sneaked out their dad's car from IB to visit Lagos. On their way back to IB they had a terrible accident and 3 of them lost their lives (2brothers and the 3rd guy) the fourth guy was super lucky cos they just dropped him off after the accident happened.
[b]Looking back now, I don't think I will ever allow my kids go out with my car if i am not with them or another adult. [/b)
I would rather say take them to diving school once they get to the age they can start driving wherever you are. Then, they will learn to drive more responsibly and also taught what to look out for to know if they should move the car straight to a workshop or if the car should be driven.

FatherCHRISTMAS:
Back in 2016 I was in the habit of sneaking out with mums car. I always go out with mum's car without her permission 🤣🤣 she wouldn't let me anyway so what's the point of asking ?

At the start, whenever I wanted to go out with the car, once I start the car she'll hear the ignition sound and tell me to come out and drop her keys.
I had alot of thinking, "there has to be a way I can go out with this car!". "this car can't just be looking at me oo, wetin go sup like this?"

So I figured a way of opening the car and putting it on drive without starting it. I'll push the car beyond Mum's window side where she can't hear the ignition sound.
Shebi na if she hear the car sound she go shout. OK now cheesy

Sometimes it might be an hour after I had left she'll know the car is no longer in the compound. She'll call my phone and shout that I should turn back wherever I am and return her car.

Me too I'll vex and tell her I am already turning back and not going with her car again.
Of course I'll never turn back grin grin grin

I'll go for hours visiting several places with her car.
My phone will be filled with all sort of missed calls

Sometimes I'll drive and won't even buy petrol... At least I know, the gauge where I should not exceed. Well on some days I want to be generous, I'll buy 700 fuel. 700 fuel don too much sef, I fit buy 400 grin
I know when I'm back home I'll face all sorts of shouts and complaints. Atleast I drove the car to my satisfaction grin grin grin grin
Na my friend moms car we dey use that time šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ if she no dey around we go carry am drive around town.

I thought of that, because of the fuel consumption.
