Engr. Augustine Uchenna Stephen, a former aide to Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, the immediate past governor of Abia State, has been kidnapped by gunmen, ABN TV reports.

According to sources, the kidnapping occurred on Thursday evening while Stephen was driving home from work. The assailants ambushed him, pointed a gun at him, and forcibly took him and his vehicle to an unknown location. His vehicle was later found abandoned along the Umuahia-Aba expressway.

Stephen, a native of Umuogo Ubakala in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State, is a prominent businessman and politician based in Port Harcourt and Umuahia.

ABN TV reports that He had recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Labor Party on March 1st, 2024, making his declaration official at his Umuogo Ubakala ward.

As of the latest reports, Stephen's abductors have not established contact. This incident raises concerns about the escalating cases of kidnapping, car snatching, and violent crimes in Umuahia and Aba.

The state government's response to these crimes has been criticized, leaving residents vulnerable to criminal activities.

The economy is pushing so many people out of work and hardship is pushing them into illegal activities....

You need a chilled something.

When things like this happen, the same people criticising the security officials, will be shouting for them to intervene. Checkpoints are being destroyed etc. Rather than destroying those checkpoints, they should rather protest against officers extorting the civilians, and ensure their political leaders make that known to higher authorities

Man's enmity to man is getting to exponential levels by the day.

A group of hard-hearted, satan-induced individuals collaborate to kidnap a fellow human being just for filthy lucre.

If successful in such a dastardly act, they call it "hustling" and flaunt the proceeds of such heinous crimes as though the rest of us who are law-abiding and god-fearing are lazy or plain stupid.

One can only pray that they set him free after collecting their ransom.

The most painful aspect is killing the victim after ransom has been paid.

The heart of man...!

They don't call it the sad east for nothing. Hebos are descending into low low levels of depravity. They will kill all their own and blame others for it. No wonder they all leave their zones in droves like cockroaches living a burning house. Shame. Obi will be quiet as usual.

How many times will the political leaders shout before the authorities respond. Enyinnaya Ababribe has been shouting about this for a long time now. Do they even need to shout before the extortion and humiliation stops at these extortion points?
Recently, Even Kananyo O Kanayo raised alarm over the number of check points where south east people are extorted and humiliated, but the concerned authorites played deaf ear.
