Royal Endorsement: King Ateke Tom Backs Nigeria's First-Ever DJ's Awards


King Ateke Tom, the traditional ruler and first Amanyanabo of Okochiri Kingdom in Rivers State, has given his royal stamp of approval to the forthcoming Nigeria's inaugural DJ's awards.


The maiden event which holds on 7th December at Chida International Hotel, Jabi Abuja, promises to be an unforgettable experience, bringing together professionals in the DJ and entertainment industry.

Industry stakeholders say the monarch's endorsement is a significant boost to the entertainment industry, emphasizing the importance of support from entertainment lovers and industry practitioners.

Speaking when he played host to the Deejays Association of Nigeria (DJAN) leadership led by it's National President, Mr. Christian Edeh (DJ perfect international), the traditional ruler urging Nigerians to throw their weight behind the entertainment and creative industry.

Other members of the entourage include the media consultant/project manager of DJAN, Mr. Humphrey Onyima and Founder/CEO Most Beautiful Girl in Abuja,Hon Ejiro Okpihwo.

In his opening remarks, Onyima said the award is geared towards entertaining night life lovers, club owners, recognize and celebrate the achievements of Nigerian DJs who have contributed significantly to the growth of entertainment industry, particularly music.

The awards he noted, will be an opportunity to recognise the role of DJs by providing a platform that highlights their importance and influence within the entertainment ecosystem.

He noted that the event will equally inspire future generations of Deejays, showcasing disk jockey (DJ) as a legitimate and influential career path for everyone.

"We are aiming to promote professionalism within the DJ community by encouraging excellence, creativity, and innovation and document the historical contributions of pioneering DJs who have shaped Nigeria's sound culture", Onyima said.


In the same token, Edeh, popularly known as DJ Perfect International, applauded the royal father for empowering acts in the entertainment industry from Nollywood actors and actresses, artistes and deejays.

He explained that the association is organizing competitions amongst the upcoming deejays to help discover talented deejays and support them to achieve their dreams.

Nigeria's creative industry is booming, with the entertainment sector projected to generate $14.8 billion in revenue by 2025.

This growth is driven by a combination of factors, including technological advancements, growing broadband connectivity, and a thriving creative scene. The industry's annual growth rate of 19.3% makes it one of the fastest-growing creative industries globally.
