Kogi University Dismisses 4 Lecturers For Sexual Misconduct, Exam Malpractice by Newlymarried(op): 5:10am On Nov 16, 2024

Four lecturers of the Federal University, Lokoja have been dismissed on account of examination misconduct and sexual misconduct. The governing council of the university gave the approval at its Second Council Meeting on Thursday, November 14.

Last year, the council ordered an investigation after the lecturers were accused of examination malpractices and sexual harassment.

The council, under the leadership of Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, appreciated the university management for following due process in the investigation that followed the allegations of examination misconduct and sexual harassment against the lecturers.

“The council will not tolerate any unethical conduct in the university” and urged the university to quickly process the remaining cases of misconduct pending, especially the one in the Faculty of Science that is trending in the media.

While cautioning staff members and lecturers against all forms of molestation of students, the council said no misconduct would be swept under the carpet.

It also urged the students always to speak out when they are molested.

A professor once told me that in a meeting between their VC called ALL the lecturers of the institution, the VC asked "if you know you've never requested for sex/money from a student before raise up your hand" and NONE of them could even lift a finger.

It's like a plague that has consumed almost all lecturers but na who dem catch be thief.

They should dig more and take the investigation to KSU and Uniabuja. Those schools in the North are something else not to talk of those in the south. Anyways, I'm not surprised when the leader of the country is an unrepentant drug-sniffed baron, and a thieving merciless criminals who surrounded himself with his likes-birds of the same feather flock together.

That's the right thing to do.
It's a cancer in Nigerian higher institutions.

Next is prosecution.

If a female student is throwing herself at you, set her up, let school and the law deal with her. No justification for sleeping with female students for grades. But, that is Nigeria.

By this action , molestation, intimidation and inducement in our institutions of learning will continue to take a downward trend.

Men need to be careful and cautious in any facet of life. We understand that almost everything about a woman communicates but there is also what is called self restraints , especially as it concerns their career . Now , their families will be affected , as a result.

We know that these guys are exposed to temptations on a daily basis from seeing plenty of sexy ladies on a daily basis but they should not be putting their careers at risk by harassing ladies for sex.

From experience out of every 10 ladies I approach at least 4 of them will willingly give me their breasts to suck therefore I see no reason for harassing or forcing them, there will never be a shortage of breasts grin

It’s no surprise that there’s a high rate of failure among students at that school. Imagine some departments where their best students have CGPA as low as 2.40 while dealing with corrupt and harsh lecturers

The temptation for a Lecturer to request for sex from a student on campus is much.........Just the same way temptation for a Political office holder to steal and embezzle public fund.

If FG can set up a committee to investigate and Dismiss lecturers for sexual misconduct, same FG should make effort to set up committees, sign into law, A law that would sentence any politician caught in the web of Looting our National patrimony by Hanging or Public Firing squad..

We will grow if FG can implement this Law......Its a simple Law. Why Nail only the Lecturers??

Good.

The calling to be a teacher is to prepare students for the life ahead. If you meet a good teacher, he can make your life the best. I got my first job through my project supervisor. I also got financial support from him during the period of waiting for project defence. He also took me for small small work for masters students and ensured we were paid. If he is reading this, he'd know me.

But for a lecturer to try to ruin a student's life because of his loins is something that would not only get the lecturer fired abroad, but earn him jail time. University management needs to stop shielding these lecturers. They should put a system in place constituted by alumni to specifically receive reports of these misconducts by lecturers. The alumni committee must protect the students and report to the governing council.

Even though some lecturers have been jailed, many lecturers still feel they can threaten to fail students if they do not open their legs.

This is something the ministries of education, youth and women affairs need to take on. There is also SERVICOM. I understand they have desks in universities. This should be their mandate.

We must institute punishment in place to deter these lecturers from using their positions to try to ruin lives.
