An investigative journalist is revisiting the famous Eddie Nawgu case. The stories here got me really wondering… This November makes it 24 years since a once-popular spiritualist Eddie Okeke - also known as Eddie Nawgu - was arrested (and some say, abducted) and allegedly summarily executed by the Bakassi Boys in Anambra State. At the time of Eddy Nawgu’s death in November 2000, Bakassi Boys had been legally recognised as a vigilante outfit for Anambra State via a special law in August of that year according to a Sahara Reporters article in 2022.Seun Nlfpmod Mynd44 SOURCE

Reading through the HRW/CLEEN report, the impression I get is that Eddie Nawgu was likely a victim of public opinion gone wrong. Very much contrary to what I ever learned about Eddie Nawgu and the stories surrounding his death, the HRW/CLEEN narratives actually mirror those of the persecution and public execution of Jesus Christ as found in the New Testament literature: A case of a mainstream religious establishment persecuting an outlier for being different.Very thoughtful. The human society has remained the same for centuries. The same pattern of injustice. |

The yeast, especially Anambra is a terrible Hobessian shithole . I did a thread on this very topic under the title "The Hobbesian state of Alaigbo". The atrocities committed by Bakassi boys is more than meets the eyes if you examine how they framed many innocent people and executed them in the most gruesome manner in broad daylight in what can only be described as human sacrifice. That land has an oath to Satan to saceifice human blood to it. The precolonial history of the land attests to this. Forget Achebe's white washing fairy tale renditions. Sanity only began under European colonization and introduction to Christianity. As soon as the Europeans left, Satan came upon the land demanded for his arrears of blood with interests which the civil war fulfilled through the senseless deliberate starvation of the people by their so-called leaders. 3 million died. A brief period of sanity returned to the land for most parts until the return of democracy in 1999 and with ritualists in power. The Bakassi boys were state empowered, funded and backed by legislation. The fact that none of the governors at that time did not see reason to curtail their excesses when we know the Bakassi boys were directly under the control of the governors is testament to this blood oath sacrifice. Kanu introduced his own madness to use as excuse to appease Satan. The land will continue to demand blood until they all return back to Christ. |

Bigkoko:An apostle of Jesus Christ even betrayed and sold him. Jesus Christ got angry and hit people in the Temple. One of the most respected patriarchs of Judaeo-Christian tradition (King David) even committed adultery. Then, he committed murder to cover the adultery. There are more ugly stories like these in the Judaeo-Christian history. But you know what? History experts (both Christian and non-Christian) point to this as a PROOF THAT THE BIBLE AND CHRISTIANITY ARE GENUINE. According to these experts, "IF JUDAEO-CHRISTIAN RECORDS DID NOT TRY TO HIDE SUCH UNSAVOURY DETAILS ABOUT THEIR OWN HEROES, THEN, WHAT GROUND DO WE HAVE TO DOUBT THE REST OF THE ACCOUNTS?" I hope you understood that. That is a different approach to another 'holy book' that recorded only beautiful things about their so-called prophet. It shows that we can't trust them - especially as they call themselves the religion of peace but fight wars every time. Top hypocrisy. |

Chai But frankly speaking and from the look of things, the said man was not giving fair hearing . That again brings to the glare the ills that have bedeviled the country where the people have zero confidence in governance and their institutions. The incident of Mr. Eddie Nwagu indicated clearly that jungle justice has been part and parcel of the Nigerian society. It beats my imagination that up till this day we still have lots and lots of jungle justice cases in the country. In the end, I prayed justice should not only be done but be seen by all as been done. Commenters and those who have first hand information on the Eddie Nwagu incident should avail us information of why and what really motivated his killing |

Bigkoko:The inquisition was suggested and headed by a Jewish convert and it is now known that it was meant specifically to do the opposite of what it was intended and that is to root out genuine converts of Jews to Christianity and have them killed. Apostacy in Judaism is only defined by converting to Christianity and the punishment is death. A Jew can convert to Islam and he will still be accepted by other Jews as still being a Jew. The Talmud is the originator of Jewish Secularism and dictates that it is ok for Jews to be atheists rather than convert to Christianity. Atheism in itself is a Jewish concept invented solely to undermine the Christian faith and it's spread. All prominent early advocates for atheism were Jews. Karl Marx and his most staunch adherents to Marxism and communism were all Jews who promoted materialism and atheism (aka communism) to destroy Christianity. The Spanish Inquisition was first proposed to root out fake Christian converts from among Jews who claimed to have converted to Christianity in Spain to avoid being expelled. The head of the inquisition was himself a Jew who converted to Christianity but was later found out to be secretly practicing his Jewish religion and his sole reason for proposing the inquisition was to actually root out and kill Jews who had truly converted to Christianity. If in doubt go and read about the Qahal and how they kept Jews from converting to Christianity in their Jewish Shetls aka Ghettos. The Jewish Qahal was an autonomous self governing zone within Christian kingdoms in medieval Europe. The Qahal had its own courts seperate from that of the Christian society. In the Qahal, Jewish rabbi had supreme powers over each and every Jew in the Shetls. The Qahal were more interested in keeping the Jews in the midst of European Christianson from converting to Christianity. Any Jew who converted to Christianity had to flee the Jewish Shetl (ghetto) or risk inevitable death. Since more and more Jews saw reason to embrace Christianity for her liberal and tolerant ideology and that Christian conversion will see them accepted in Christian society instead of being confined to the ghettos of medieval Europe, the Qahal system was demanded by Jewish leaders so as to keep the Jews as a monolithic entity and from dying out . The head of the Spanish Inquisition was a crypto Jew or marrano (fake convert) who infiltrated the church and was able to sell the inquisition to the church for his own ambition to root out real converts to Christianity amongst the Jews and have them killed. |

This man's death and those of thousands were murdered in the most barbaric manner in full public glare without any conclusive investigation and trial in court. The Bakassi boys took orders directly from the respective state governors' offices. We also know that anyone who had the right amount of money could approach the same Bakassi boys to eliminate a rival. Rivalry over land, chieftaincy titles, business adversaries, political opponents and long standing enemies used the Bakassi boys to settle scores. This is how UGM aka IPOB criminals are being used to settle scores under the cover of UGM. This man had many enemies including the Catholic church in the yeast and it's mafia priests who went about grabbing community land with impunity. One of the major enablers of James Nwafor was a Catholic Priest in Awkuzu who in his land grabbing , falsely accused many of the community youth of planning to kidnap him. This was of course over land dispute between the Catholic priest and the community youth over the Priest's attempt to carve large swath of their land as church land to be used in the Priest's future personal business project. The problem in the SE is a very wicked and heartless elite class that keep oppressing their poor populace while jostling amongst themselves. From all indications, this man stepped on too much toes and attracted envy and jealousy. He was at loggerheads with the Catholic church over both land dispute and the mass conversion of parishioners to his church. Community leaders were jealous of his influence over the populace and even the governor was said to be at odds with him over his open critisicm to it. His plight is truly like that of Christ among the vipers of the synagogue. |

Welcum:I was replying the guy in question He claimed Igbo land issues were stopped by Christianity and i was trying to point out that the hero worship fanatical insanity he condemns actually started with the introduction of Christianity, the early Christians of Igboland were not the noble class, they were the Osus, the slaves and the physically and mentally unstable - the outcasts of Igboland. These outcasts ganged up together in envy and revenge and overthrew the more noble stable savage class with the help of Christianity. Overthrowing this ruling class caused serious political, economic and cultural instability and that is what started the problems of Alaigbo. The very tenets of Christianity itself can cause insanity... Love your enemies. Turn the other cheek. Do not judge. Blessed are the meek. Blessed are the poor. Guage your eye out if it causes you to sin. The wisdom of heaven is better than the wisdom of earth. Your either a sane Christian in that case a 'hypocrite' or you are a 'true Christian' in that case a madman or a fool, there is no 'true sane Christian' (except in Norway). Islam by contrast is much more practical much more straightforward, it doesn't promote hatred for the masters 'unless those masters are not muslims' neither does it promote hatred for the weak 'zakat'. Islam would have struck a better harmony between Igbo traditional religion and kindness for the weak. Christianity was the worst religion for Igbos. Say what you will about the North, the truth is the North is more powerful politically and economically than the South East and that is due to the reduction of Christianity. |

danvon:You are right about the early converts to Christianity in Ibo land being those from the dredges of society . But what you failed to understand is that their mass conversion as you rightly pointed out wasn't out of conviction towards the new religion of Christianity but instead it was to free them from the chains and bonds that the slave society had imposed on them by the ruling class. And you erred in claiming that the converts turned on their former masters. This is false. Rather their former slave masters in the Freeborn class doubled down on the class system to ensure the now emancipated slaves never amounted to anything in Ibo society. The British colonialists believed in the Roman way of doing things when they conquered an area by always reverting to the ruling class as their proxy authority. In Ibo land, the British elevated the freeborns to Warrant Chiefs. These warrant chiefs will later lead to Ibo kings and royalty after the civil war. The British also tried as much as possible not to interfere in the internal cultural norms of Ibo land and so they turned a blind eye to many excesses of the Warrant Chiefs. Do you know that up to the early 20th century , Ibos were still being sold and exported as slaves to South America and the ones doing this were the same warrant chiefs under licence from the Royal Niger Company to supply slaves to Brazil? Slavery was only finally legally abolished in Ibo land as late as 1951! The situation in iboland was so bad that an 0su would be rejected as a parish priest in some areas. The early Christian converts have since been edged out of church affairs in the SE especially in the predominantly Catholic church. If you doubt this, it's only in the SE that a community parish or entire diocese will reject the appointment of a reverend or a bishop because he does not hail from their community or state. If they can discriminate over who will lead their churches based on state of origin or clan is it an 0su descendant they will accept ? Most of the 0su descendants have since converted to protestant or Envangelical Christianity and that's why there is a war beneath the surface against non Catholic Christians in Ibo land. |

tutudesz:Their politicians used them to get rid of their opponents. Business rivals used them to settle scores Governors used them to silent dissent Even the Catholic church used them in this man's case to halt the mass defection and conversion from catholism. The yeast is one very terrible place. |
