If Tinubu has truly ended the subsidy and deregulated the price of petrol, he has done well, coupled with the floating of the Naira. Where the government falls short is that they've allowed the inflation rate too be higher than expected by not tightening monetary policies. Some reforms the IMF would like to see are an ambitious privatization and commercialization program and a reduction in the size of the civil service. The later can only be carried in a second term. If attempted now, Tinubu should kiss a second term good bye! |
