What is Igbo word for 'Yes'?
Let's start here to know who stole the other person's language.
Languages can’t be stolen, Ikwerre word itself is Igbo word of saying Yes I agree. Every language that can understand across many people is the same language.

The day you people will understand that every community has an equal stake to the moon that is when you people will stop with trying to rub us with igbo. Rubbing us with Igbo pains us as when I rub you with OSU identity if at all you are not one.

Igbos staying in their conclave wouldn't understand me. The only igbo that will understand ikwerre are those who have spent some times in Port Harcourt.
Igbos have known ikwerre for over a hundred years and every effort to annex ikwerre has failed. We may be a related ethnic but not one the other. Our cultures, beliefs and values differ.
Igbo has advantage because of numbers. That is why ikwerre is being classified as Igbo. An average Igbo man knows that if not for territorial expansion he doesn't have any similarities with an Ikwerre man.
Not true, I don’t live in Portharcourt, I understand Elele, Igwuruta, Ubima, Obioakpo, Diobi etc nothing different in these area languages with Igbo language. Is simply the same language with dialects variations.

Do you understand ikwerre?
Let's put it into test.
Iyo vo vu ivuru. Iyo vu ivoma.
What did I say?
Dialects differs in Igbo language and this is a small enclave of Ikwerre probably mixed with Ekpeye, the lager Ikwerre dialect is the same with Igbo.

What about if I say igbo is a dialect of Ikwerre people?
If you understand me and I also understand you don't you think you might be me? Have a reason to reason in a bilateral dimension. USA migrated from Great Britain. Today USA is almost five times Great Britain in power and population.
If not for written history no one would believe USA left UK for north America.

If you are an Ikwerre man, you should understand that God of creation has made your Ikwerre language similar to Igbo language and it is forever difficult to dissociate yourselves from Igbos.

Just imagine a man named Chibuike Amaechi or Eberechukwu Nwike Nyosom telling a Yoruba or Hausa or people of other countries that he or she is not Igbo, don’t you think that your name gave you out as Igbo before even speaking the language.

Anywhere you see someone answering Ayodele, Shola, Adeyomi, you will not think twice to call the person a Yoruba. So it is quite a difficult task for you Ikwerres forever to separate yourself from Igbos.

It can be either way, Igbo can be a dialect of Ikwerre but the bottom like is that the two languages are similar that both to a large extent can hear each other.

USA is a migrant country, not only migrant from UK but the rest of Europe but Uk is the first to conquer the land, in term of Ikwerre and Igbo, there was no colonialism from either side of Ikwerre or Igbo meaning that their languages are their ancestral heritage which is intelligible with each other signifying the same origin.

Ikwerre language is not Igbo dialect.

Ikwerre language is Ikwerre language and Igbo language is Igbo language.

Ikwerre language IS NOT the same with Igbo language.

Ikwerre language is spoken by Ikwerre people and Igbo language is spoken by Igbo people.
Every Igbo person can hear whatever an Ikwerre is saying and Every Ikwerre can hear Igbo language, Ikwerres doesn't understand a single word in Bini language.
Just because Gowon presented a map drawn by the British Ambassador to carve out oil producing areas from the old Eastern region you guys suddenly lost your identity and started claiming Bini and Bini people have consistently told you that you are not part of them but you continue to insist because of Nigeria politics not treating the Igbos fairly

Bros I wish to be your friend. Secondly for you to be this liberal in thinking you are not igbo. I know this. We have always told them that by our language being mutually intelligible that we are related people and not necessarily the other. But the domineering igbo man wants the prideful ikwerre man to drop his identity.
See ikwerre epitomize in both Amaechi and Wike. Do these two men have Igbo characteristics? One thing common in us is pride. Ikwerre man has this naturally. He is arrogant, he is boastful and I can say pompous. These are not typical Igbo way of life.

There may be itshekiri having some words in common with Yorubas. Any day I find him I may hastily take him to be a Yoruba person. I will listen to him when he corrects me with his real identity. I will not force him to be who he is not. Names and cultured are borrowed. Those names might have been ikwerre originally.
When England realized they couldn't force Scotland to be English they form a union called United Kingdom of Great Britain. Igbos can do this.

You just drive joy in deceiving yourself, nobody is grabbing your land, migration from Benin doesn’t mean that the progenitors that migrated from Benin are not Igbos, before the establishment of Benin kingdom from Yorubas Aromiya with the help of Portuguese, there is IDU kingdom before Igodomigodo, Igbos are part of IDU before Akalaka and Eze-Chime migrated out of IDU not even Benin because Benin kingdom came yesterday.

The said Ajayi Crowther is a returned refugee from America that just wrote a book about languages in Nigeria and didn’t form any language, stop showing your ignorance on public.
Igbos were never part of Igodomigodo. Go check the names of the kings that ruled Igodomigodo, none were igbos.

There was no record of igbos in Igodomigodo history.

Ajayi Crowther took part of Igala, Ika, and Ikwerre languages and taught the people (slaves) that were in Igbo land.

Check the igbo traditional dressing too...its even a more recent thing, from the red cap/winter cap to the Akpoche, there were all borrowed.

This is the reason the Onitsha Monarchy will always stand by its Benin Origin because they know the rest igbos are descendants of slaves.

Don't you have osu in ikwerre?

Who are the Igbos? Do you realize Igbo is a generic term and not a language comparable to ikwerre. The people your ancestors called isoma are mostly those living in imo state.

Have you encountered Nsukka person? Afikpo person?? Or you think we all speak one dialect in southeast??

Have you heard an ogbaru man speak??

Riverine Igbos are referred to as OLU by the hinterlands...does that make them less Igbo? Same way your refering to orlu/Owerri people as isoma don't mean you aren't one people.

Enugu people still refer to ndị Anambra as agbaelu till today, are they different people??

Your write up is always laughable grin grin, read about Idu kingdom and the various fight that collapsed it to smaller Igodomigodo and later to smaller Edo/Ado before the fall last Ogiso to first Oba and renaming it to ile Bini (a name given to it by Yorubas Aromiya) before the Portuguese started calling it Benin.

IDU kingdom stretches upto Onitsha before it collapsed to smaller Igodomigodo.

Ajayi crowther is just of recent, born in 1809 to 1891,was a Yoruba linguist, clergyman, and the first African Anglican bishop of West Africa and didn’t have the capacity to do such, he is just a writer of books as he studied linguistics while in slavery.

Igodomigodo was a smaller kingdom and was only in present day Benin city. Igodomigodo didn't even cover the whole of Edo state today so, igbos were never part of it.

It was the Benin Empire that stretched to Onitsha and this is evident in the Royal symbol(Ada and Eben) of Obi of Onitsha.

Quit lying grin grin. The evidence is just too glaring.

Igbos always grappling at straws when it comes to history .

Today you are from Isreal, tomorrow you are from Eri , next tomorrow you are now Idu grin grin.

Ajayi Crowther brought strangers ( slaves) together and taught them ibo language.

Bros there is no tie anywhere that link ikwerres to the Igbos. See as close as Omerelu is to imo state communities there is no tie between this ikwerre community to these Igbo communities. That Ikwerre and Igbo happen to share some similar words in both languages due to close boundary and trading does not give you the audacity to group our language as Igbo!

For your information: Igbo means “Forest” in Ikwerre Language and our Ikwerre Language or identity is not “Forest”! Plss!!! Hahahah

Note: Ikwerre and Igbo are not the only tribes that share some similar words in both languages In Nigeria and Across Africa and the world.

Stop trying to attach yourself to us, be proud of yourself, We Ikwerres are doing perfectly well!
You are still living in delusion, how can you explain Ika people and Benin despite the proximity but can't speak Benin, I am not ruling out that some Ikeweres did not migrate from somewhere like Benin as you claimed but stop generalizing it.
