ALTERNATEID:Oga I am not hating Tinubu stop being stupid here. The idea is this you rebase a GDP when there are new sectors that were not included when the last GDP was done. Jonathan did that and that was manifest in the new GDP figure. Tinubu wants to use informal sector that you cannot even quantify or measure their performance to rebase the GDP. How does that work? It makes no sense, this was how they recalculated the unemployment rate and miraculously it reduced from 33% to 3% do you know how much of a laughing stock we became internationally when thT figure was released? My guy leave partisan politics and learn to say the truth not because they pay you to spread propaganda. |

Believeintruth:It is only someone that is extremely stupid and full of hatred that will be against rebasing after 15 years. If you think we have no new sector since 2010, wait for the data to come out next year. If there is nothing new, nothing new will show. I don’t understand why you guys are so worked up about this news. Sadly, you haters can’t do anything about it. Every country do this every five years but in Nigeria, our own citizen will go online to oppose it because they hate the president. If Obi is president. will you tell him not to rebase? What kind of nonsense argument is this? |
| Re: Federal Government To Rebase Gross Domestic Product (GDP) By 2025 by Believeintruth: 1:02pm On Nov 17, 2024 |
ALTERNATEID:You are still missing the point and stop lying the GDP was rebased in 2014 not 2010. Also note that you can only rebase if there are no new sectors that were not captured in the last exercise. Oga stop misleading people you are more of a danger to Nigerians that BH and Bandits. |

Believeintruth:It can't be manipulated Global financial institutions such as World Bank, IMF, WTO, IFC, Wall Street firms such as JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs etc already have Nigeria's economic data Infact these Global financial institutions have economic data on every Country on Earth Because that's what they use for financial activities with each Nation Example Nigeria have been getting funds from World Bank, IMF, IFC etc They can't release funds if they don't have updated data of the present economy |
| Re: Federal Government To Rebase Gross Domestic Product (GDP) By 2025 by Believeintruth: 1:17pm On Nov 17, 2024 |
djon78:Adding the informal sector will definitely allow for manipulation. The informal sector cannot be measured or evaluated, that is why it is informal. If we go by the current trend, the GDP is going down and at am alarming rate too. |
| Re: Federal Government To Rebase Gross Domestic Product (GDP) By 2025 by ALTERNATEID: 1:24pm On Nov 17, 2024 |
Believeintruth:This pretty much shows your level of ignorance. You don’t even understand what this is all about yet you’re making so much noise ignorantly. Rebasing was last done in 2014 but the calculation was updated from 1990 to 2010 and not 2014. Even the one that will be done next year will not rebase the country to 2025. They will look at updating the base from 2010 to 2020. Again, rebasing must be done ideally every five years to update the data to current realities. It doesn’t matter whether haters of Mr. President likes it or not. You can’t sit down in your house without access to any information and be saying there are no new sectors since 2010. That shows how empty you are. |

| Re: Federal Government To Rebase Gross Domestic Product (GDP) By 2025 by ALTERNATEID: 1:31pm On Nov 17, 2024 |
Believeintruth:When the team of economist and statisticians from NBS, World bank, IMF and WTO are done with the rebasing next year, you will get the answer to your question. For now, shut up and let them do their thing. |
| Re: Federal Government To Rebase Gross Domestic Product (GDP) By 2025 by Believeintruth: 1:34pm On Nov 17, 2024 |
ALTERNATEID:Oga it is a simple question, stop being clever mention the new sectors. |

Championhala:We cannot start checking where each project started to determine its effect on economic activities. What matters most is when it came into use as that's when it's full effect on development came to bear. Take d itakpe aladja rail for example. It never started under GEJ, rather twas under IBB in 1987 when it was started as a narrow gauge cargo rail. It was ultimately completed under PMB and put to use and it's impact on our dev was felt. The second Niger bridge was conceptualized under Shagari, different accessments and evaluations where done including a phantom commencement of work by GEJ but d govt actually mobilized men to site and saw you it's completion was PMB. It was out to use under PMB and its effect on our economy can be ascertained hence forth, GEJ lost out in d picture. |

LOL.. figures dont stop galloping inflation, high cost of living, high energy cost. collapse of industries, unemployment, hunger. You can tell Nigerians another figure for GDP, but you cant stop the decline. BAD POLICIES. |

| Re: Federal Government To Rebase Gross Domestic Product (GDP) By 2025 by Odibembem: 2:18pm On Nov 17, 2024 |
mrvitalis:So Mr text book economist, d only line u could pick is d issue of Dangote Refinery adding $20b to our GDP and crying regarding d exact point in time we should add it to our GDP? The larger topic here is rebasing of d economy and regardless of d exact time d value of that refinery should be captured, be it at completion date or prior, d new GDP to be rebased will capture not just it's $20b historical cost value but d entire value of its value chain which may ultimately double that amount. Now it's left for u to cry and wail cos u don't like anything positive, remain in ur class room and be reading Adam Smith's old school classical economics, Nigeria will rebase her economy next year and we shall see it in d region of $750-$800b. Hug transformer if u don't like it |

Believeintruth:lol Why can't it be quantified. So those informal sectors don't contribute to GDP? Nigeria is cheating itself if it leaves the informal sector out of the GDP because it is a huge sector compared to that of USA or China. The two biggest economies also capture the informal sector in their GDP...

Rebase kor, GDP ni. Howfar did they go with their patch - patch defense of the naira with billions of dollars by Kardashian cbn approach. Today, exchange rate is $1 to 1,700 naira +. Listen and listen good, A man cannot give what he doesn't have. Even if given 30 years according to Daniel Bwala. Tpain started with a policy that impoverished his people, obliterated their purchasing power. Not enough, he went further by increasing task right left and centre, borrowed any how and embarked on misplaced priorities: white elephant projects. jet etc. And now, he want to rebase the economy, to achieve what exactly? reduce the price of rice? or increase Ronu stipend from 30k to 35k? He can only deceive his Ronu miscreants in their Whatsapp group. The fact is.... Tpain has nothing to offer. |
