Emmaus12:Pls what can I do to improve this score? Did you do anything extra to get nominations or you just left everything the way they are after submitting your profile to the pool. |

My CRS is 374 and my profile abi na application status says I meet the minimum requirements. I have left everything the way they are since July hoping to maybe get some ITA but nothing has happened. What can I do to improve this score. Should I retake ielts and try to score 8.0 at least, or learn French or do masters. Aside this 3 is there anything else I can do? |

SemperFid:Add a second certificate if your highest is only a first degree. (You can reach out08106337690 for a quick second certificate you can complete between a month or two. Or do a search) Retake your language test or add a second language. Pray for provincial nomination. |

Ontarioo:Thank you very much. Let me search for a quick certificate course. However, are you saying out of the three actions u listed I must complete 2. My highest degree is my Optometry bachelors and I am using it to work as an optometrist now. If I find a related certificate program and complete, and then redo my language to score atleast 8.0 which won't be hard because I already scored 8.5 in academic. Then if I achieve these, I will be good to go? |

Hello House, Please I need insights into a question I have concerning Saskatchewan Provincial Stream. Current Situation: I am looking to apply to Saskatchewan Nominee Program(Express Entry Stream). I meet all the requirement to qualify to apply for EOI to the province and upon doing the Pre evaluation I have a 66 points. However there is a requirement that states that my NOC Code must match my Post Secondary Studies. My BSc and Msc is in Agricultural science but I have been working as a Operation Risk Analyst in a FinTech. 1) Please is it possible to use Certifications Instead to back up my Choice of NOC? 2) If yes, I can use certification, Please I will appreciate recommendations on certifications & Certification bodies that I can use which will be recognized by WES. I will appreciate any advise/ Insight I can get to best handle this.

SemperFid:Hi Optometrist here, you don't need an additional certificate course as OD is evaluated as Masters/professional degree requiring license to practice and the only thing that will give you more points than that is if you have PhD. However like you mentioned, you can try to max out your IELTS, if you are married your spouse should also write IELTS and evaluate their education credentials this should boost your CRS score a little, learning French is also an option. Ps. You mentioned optometry bachelors? I don't know of any Nigerian university that awards BSc Optometry, on the off chance that you are not Nigerian if that is indeed what you have, then you can definitely look into getting a second cert. Also its IELTS general that is used for express entry not academic because you said something about getting 8.5 in IELTS academic. |
| Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by SemperFid: 1:27am On Nov 18, 2024 |
Oly23:Thank you for your response. It's Doctor of Optometry degree as a matter of fact. But i just mentioned the bachelor's because it's a first degree 6 years program. I did the general first and scored 7.5 everything then I got into the pool but everything has been quiet so I decided to try out academic. I needed to apply for an MSc Vision Science program in the U.S and take advantage of the funding options available. I scored 8.5 on the acada and have sent my application and just hoping for the best. Now I haven't forgotten about my express entry pool even though nothing is happening. It looks like I'll be needing to redo my language tests. I heard about CELPIP, and the popular opinion is that it's somewhat better, so I intend to write celpip this time. If I max out on my language tests, my crs will be 425. So I still need something to take it up. |

SemperFid:Oh ok cool, when you mentioned bachelors it gave the wrong impression, regardless of it being a first degree you are awarded OD not BSc , anyways you definitely should rewrite the language test, 425 is not that high of a CRS score but it will definitely boost your chances of getting NOI from Ontario or you might even be lucky to get Federal ITA the next time they do a health category based draw, because apart from learning French and writing TEF there really isn't much you can do to improve your score again. |
| Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by SemperFid: 8:31am On Nov 18, 2024 |
Oly23:Thanks so much. You've been very helpful. I've used the calculator to quantify all my options and it turns out taking the TEF exam will give me the highest boost all things being equal. That's what I'll do. Can you recommend a tutor? |
| Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by Oly23(f): 9:45am On Nov 18, 2024 |
SemperFid:You are very welcome!! Learning French and writing the TEF is no walk in the park though, that's about a 1-2 years commitment, so I would still advice you rewrite your language test be in the pool with the 425 while learning French. As for a tutor I sadly can't recommend any, I know of Alliance Francais and institut Francais French schools , but you can check page 1 of this thread I think there is a link to the TEF thread and you'd get more guidance there. |

| Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by CornOak(m): 12:07pm On Nov 18, 2024 |
SemperFid:Damn! Start from here. You need to reevaluate your credential with a body that recognizes your degree as professional. Check ICAS and ICES. Good luck. |

SemperFid:It really is up to you, have you written Celpip before? Things to consider will be 1. testing centre, IELTS is written in several locations while Celpip can only be taken in Lagos I think, so if you are not already in Lagos that could be extra cost. 2. Testing style, you've written IELTS twice now you should be pretty familiar with their testing style , but then again people say Celpip is easier. 3. Which is the cheaper option IELTS or Celpip? ![]() |

SemperFid:Weird, I used WES as well and every other colleague I know of used WES as well and report always states 6 years of professional study. Are you certain you chose the correct evaluation i.e document by document for immigration?
|
| Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by SemperFid: 2:42pm On Nov 18, 2024 |
Oly23:Yes, it's document by document. The report I got which I attached here says it's equivalency.
|
| Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by SemperFid: 2:47pm On Nov 18, 2024 |
Oly23:Yes. It's the same thing. But what I'm confused about now is here. Where does this OD fall? I think it is pretty much the professional cert that requires a license. Before now I have selected the option that says bachelor's degree of 3 years or more. Damn.. I can't believe I am just beginning to take a closer look at all of these.
