Why do painkillers fear big gbola

The Killing of a Sacred Deer......7.5/10

Now this is one pretty weird movie from Yorgos Lanthimos. Seems the director specializes in this weird storytelling style cos all his movies have these themes.

The first 30 minutes of the film was a harrowing experience. The characters were just talking and barely putting life or emotion into their acting. It's like they were just reading their lines instead of acting and felt forced. Could be a creative decision though, to explain the uneasiness with the opening scenes.
Things really begin to kick off after a while and it becomes filled with suspense.

But I somehow find the film unrealistic and a bit cartoonish because the motivations of some characters and how they acted in certain circumstances felt dümb. Especially Collin Farrell's character sucking up to the kid till he got to know his full intentions. I also find the daughter's behaviour pretty annoying and stüpid. If I were her parents she'd surely be the № 1 candidate to be sacrificed. Not her brother. She has psychopathic tendencies that could get worse growing up.

The way the kids ain't alarmed for their life, took it calmly, especially the girl whose stüpid behavioural patterns belie her calmness and acceptance of dé@th. Her Stockholm Syndrome is just too annoying and unrealistic to believe.

A very weird movie with not nearly enough oomph to make it feel authentic.

The Substance.....8/10

The movie has so much buzz but the Academy might ignore this one.

The film dealt with a very important topic, but i felt they dealt the topic too soon, and after the 1st act, it became narratively and thematically dead, and they just filled in the blanks, with repeated bizarre content that became so cumbersome to sit, considering the movie had a ridiculous run time of 2hrs plus.

But I can't fault the performances of the lead, one of my faves this year plus the cinematography was just magic..The close up shots and fish eye lens were just top work, and it will totally eat in this category during the award season.

Just to note....i love how satirical pieces like this, mirror real life in the most humorous way because Demi Moore is 61 irl, and she's still a total beaut, but apparently not pretty enough for showbiz just to lay bare the ridiculous arbitrary beauty standards women are held to...👀

Demi Moore performance in the film was top notch but I'm still indifferent about it being an Oscar performance. Dunno...maybe cos the film isn't amongst my favourite films of the year and doesn't check all the box for me.
Or I probably went it with all the hype and it didn't match my expectations. Still a good movie nevertheless.

Well I don't think adguard is even enough for sites like Psarips and Pahe. Back when i use to actively use those sites, i used to have a chrome extension that bypass link shortener, that just skip those ridiculous countdowns and takes me directly to the download links, adguard is just secondary.

Anyway, these ads and link shorteners, are how these guys maintain these sites, so i just go through the pain every once in a while to get a link, considering the stellar services they offer...I mean, not that these guys are making so much off these services. Dr.XJ, one half of the guys that encode on Psarips, is just an undergrad med student, still finding his way in life, and depends heavily on proceeds from PSarips to function properly irl lol 😩😅

Anyways, horror genre is finally getting some respect from general audience. I hope the Academy can actually align appropriately.

lol yeah the hype didn't match my huge expectations. After the long standing ovation at cannes, i went deep, like really really deep, to search for a clear copy before the official release, just to see it for myself, and ended up getting off a Portuguese pirate, that usually, some how gets his hands on advance copy of films that screen at film festivals, and at an over bloated file size.

Well, if i ever get around to make a top 10 best films i saw this year, i very much doubt, it will make the cut cuz am pretty sure i have seen 10 better films than it, or even more...still yet to even seen the popular releases like Anora and the likes...so
