Role

Mythology
In Yoruba mythology, Oshun was the queen of King Shango of Oyo. She was the only female of the 17 orishas sent by the supreme God of the Yoruba people, Olodumare, to save the earth from destruction.

Influence
Oshun was a powerful goddess for the African people, especially during the transatlantic slave trade.

Beyoncé
Beyoncé incorporated Oshun into her music video for "Lemonade" and her album Black Is King.
