OBUDU CULTURAL DAY EXHIBITION AND TRADE FAIR CALABAR.

The Obudu Cultural Day Exhibition was successfully held today, 19th November 2024, at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar. This remarkable event celebrated the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the Obudu people, emphasizing the importance of preserving and promoting our traditions as a foundation for unity and progress.

The celebration featured captivating performances by traditional dance troupes, showcasing the artistry and cultural vibrancy of the Obudu community. Traditional music, attire, and storytelling further enriched the experience, bringing the heritage of Obudu to life for all attendees.

A major highlight of the event was the exhibition segment, which featured an impressive array of crafts and traditional delicacies like Melon Cake, bitter leave soup and others, offering a glimpse into the creative and culinary traditions of Obudu.

The Chairman of Obudu Local Government Council, Hon. Undiandeye Peter Akonfe KSM, expressed heartfelt gratitude to stakeholders, sons and daughters of Obudu, and all attendees for their contributions to the success of the event. He emphasized that the Obudu Cultural Day Exhibition aligns with the vision of the Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, whose *People First* mantra prioritizes the welfare, culture, and unity of the people.

Hon. Undiandeye highlighted the significance of cultural preservation as a unifying force and a catalyst for socio-economic development. He noted that the event provided a platform to empower local artisans, vendors, and performers, thereby strengthening the economic and social fabric of the Obudu community.

He further pledged his administration's continued support for initiatives that promote cultural preservation, youth engagement, and economic empowerment, in line with the Governor's vision. He encouraged the youth to embrace and sustain traditional practices, ensuring the rich legacy of Obudu is preserved for future generations.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Akonfe called on all stakeholders to collaborate in safeguarding and celebrating the cultural identity of the Obudu people. He reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to fostering unity, progress, and development in the community.

Can you just imagine.
You are celebrating Obudu Cultural day in Calabar.
Why can't the event be held in Obudu?
If care is not taken, one day Yakuur Local Government chairman will take Leboku festival to Calabar.

My brother, where is Obudu and where is Calabar? Are they not in the same state?
If he had done it in Lagos or Abuja then your defence would have held water. Let us condemn what is wrong.
What he did is totally wrong.
He can make this Cultural festival an annual event in Obudu. By so doing it will attract lots of people to the village. This will boost the economic situation of Obudu.

Why the event was at calabar not Lagos or Abuja as you wished is that, before the general election, the Obudu people in calabar do come together with the spirit of one ness to support his candidacy.

I trust Obudu Council Chairman knows exactly what to do inorder to attract investors into her land

And the purpose of the event was to plead and encourage our sons and daughters to bring
most of their investment to their mother Land.

Was that not recommendable?

If you need videos during his speech, I will make it available for you.

Thanks for your concern
