Sack them straight up. Especially if it's a Nigerian employee. They will ruin your business. I'm talking from experience. This one no be meme or motivational quote. |

Vinnie2000:.. . Where there's no law, there's no punishment! ... The staff should be dealt with according to the 'laid down' rules of the Org as regards his/her misconduct |

horpe132:Agreed! Every organization/company ought to have clear rules on how even such things would be handled so employees are clear on the Dos and Don'ts. ![]() Vinnie2000:Dock the amount from his salary since there were no rules in place before this. ![]() |

HeatSeeker:The company is being dishonest by selling old stock with outrageous profit margin. The staff is aware that they are profiteering and it's leadership tone of dishonest company leadership begets dishonest staff. I have insisted on paying old price on an old stock and the seller eventually agreed with me that he can't impose new prices on old stock because Naira has been devalued. That company can not last eventually if it keeps acting dishonestly. Disciplinary measure that exonerates the dishonest management is not the solution. The company leaders should be honest. |

FreeStuffsNG:I bet your response would be different if you knew the tribe of the staff or the management of the company 😒 Every business has a right to adjust prices of their products/services based on current market realities. How do you expect them to restock after their profit margin has been eroded due to the devaluation of the local currency? |

HeatSeeker:Smh. It is not true that you can fix the price of your goods and services by profiteering without restrain. Nowhere in the world is it practiced. Not even USA, the capital of free enterprise, is the right of a business to fix prices unrestrained. Here's a recent attempt to stop arbitrary pricing https://edition.cnn.com/2024/03/14/tech/americans-high-speed-internet-access-fcc/index.html If you sell old stock at new prices that imposes an unfair outrageous burden on the customer and you are reported to the relevant agency, you and your business will be in trouble. New stock will come with it's own profit margin to reflect the market reality just like for the old stock. If you have old stock of Jeans and sell at 25% profit margin for N7,500 per pair of jeans. If you suddenly jerk up the price of the old stock to sell at N15, 000, it's a criminal 200% profit margin! If it goes unchallenged, that's like a ten-fold increase in your profit margin! Blood money! Not even petrol marketers increased their profit margins by 10x! That the selling price for new stock is N15K doesn't give you right for criminal profiteering! It is criminal excuse to use dishonest means to get money from the buyer of old stock to raise new capital to stock at new prices. That's why I have no doubt that businesses led by people with your kind of excuses for cheating their customers will not last and they will hire dishonest staff too. |

Vinnie2000:It depends on the company policies and regulations! Some would outrightly sack such staff...others might suspend and withhold their salary for that month! Based on the write-up,a suspension with a salary cut that month would likely be appropriate! |

The clothing line should at least give their employees some discount whenever they want to buy clothes from the company. That's the way it goes in foreign countries. |

FreeStuffsNG:A company reserves the right to change it's prices, old stock or no old stock, do sales to reduce price or not. It is from old stock it will pay new Electricity tariff, new staff minimum wage, new Petrol price increases, new exchange rate for materials , new lending interest rates from banks, and so on. The staff does not have any right to collect 20k and have an official receipt of 35k written out. That is fraud. If something goes wrong with the jeans and the customer wants refunds, the customer will come and claim 35k refunds from the company using that receipt this making the company lose 15k |
