As a body horror enthusiast, I can certainly say that 'The Substance' is a top ten contender for 2024. Objectively, it isn't for everyone. It will not get an Oscar recognition due to its graphic nature and niche classification, but it is the type of film that a cinefile will always respect for the script's sheer chutzpah. The writers clearly enjoyed putting everything together.

I'm not going to make pretentious statements like it's incredibly profound or very meaningful... I don't care about any of it; what I do appreciate is the disgustingly brilliant graphic sequences and the mesmerising lunacy of the third act.

We need more films like this.

I've been hearing about this project for about a month or so but seeing it actually coming to fruition just makes me overly excited especially with the possibility of Daniel Craig as the star SGT ROCK!
Luca Guadagnino directing? Now that's another star power director James continues to add to this new universe. I'm freaking out. 😱

The potential of this movie is so fvvking huge especially when I watched HBO's Band of Brothers. Now you're thinking how this ties into that.... because Sgt Rock and his buddies are actually mirrored after the real life exploits and events of the Easy Company of US Army Paratroopers who partook in WWII in the Europeean theatre.
If it's anything close to HBO's show, bruh we cooking real time.

Why am I more excited is the connecting tissue it has with other projects. I feel there's a connection of this film with upcoming CREATURE COMMANDOS cos G.I Robot was actually a member of Easy Company, so there might be some tie-ins in the show to this movie.
James Gunn said CC was the s@ddest thing he's ever written. So all these makes CC being a must watch for what's to come in the DCU.

Suicide Squad Isekai is another flop. There are hundreds of better Isekai anime from Japan. Suicide Squad Isekai has great animation but it is just average in plot and other things.

My adventures with Superman- is just for kids and light hearted.


Let me see if batman caped crusader is good. Batman normally saves DC's azz.

Shalaye masters can keep hyping DC but DC will always fail them.

You are very correct. I can hardly remember watching any comedy movies this year. You can recommend old ones anyways, it's fine by me.

So many redo stories and boring movies these days. Even Kevin Harts is stylishly entering action genre now. Boring!!!!

Too bad they can't produce any real comedy movies. Just skits here and there. Even the skits are not funny.

Dude's pretending that when the Justice League Dark: Apokolips War movie dropped it didn't hold this thread on hostage back then. The DC Animated Movie Universe was unparalleled. Still is.

One funny thing I always find about DC detractors is that they fail to acknowledge DC's success in all other spheres. They always use only the theatrical box office of MCU's success as banter.
They forget that in terms of TV shows and animation universe they'll always be behind DC.
