Port Harcourt-based, Anambra-born architect, Engr. Asomba Andrew Egbuonu, has been killed by gunmen in Nnewi, four days before the burial of his late mother. Egbuonu was a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (FNIA).

The General Secretary of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), Chike Chamberlain Ibeanu, who announced the incident, said Egbuonu was killed while finalizing arrangements for his mother’s burial.

In a message, Ibeanu stated, “Distinguished colleague, it is with a painful and heavy heart that I announce the death of our brother, Arc. Asomba Andrew Egbuonu FNIA, KSJ.

He died on Sunday, 17th November 2024, following complications from gunshot wounds sustained after being attacked by yet-to-be-identified gunmen near our hometown of Nnewi.

He was heading home to conclude arrangements for his mother’s burial on Thursday, 21st November 2024.

Until his death, Arc. Asomba Andrew Egbuonu was the Chairman of the Architectural Exhibitions and Competitions Committee of the Institute and a Past Chairman of the NIA Rivers State chapter.”

Ibeanu urged colleagues to pray for the repose of Egbuonu’s soul and for God’s strength and comfort for the family during this trying time.

He lived and enjoyed security in Port Harcourt, South-South Nigeria but met his unfortunate and untimely death in the hands of gunmen when he travelled to his State of origin, Anambra, South-East Nigeria.

My mechanic's elder brother used to donate and support Ipob. Back then, he would send money from his base overseas to Kanu when he was still doing Radio Biafra. He was kidnapped and despite the fact that his family paid, he was severely beaten. Today, he knows better.

Some of the Igbos you see supporting Kanu and Ekpa are part of the kidnappers and criminals killing igbos in the East. People like giddygiddy and Co. One of those monikers fond of insulting Yorubas confessed that Bakassi Boys chased him out of Aba before he ran to Lagos.

Igbos need to stop supporting the madness of these criminals and form civilian JTF to hunt these animals down. Unfortunately, cowardice won't allow. They prefer to blame Yorubas, DSS, Fulani, Asari, Mungo Park and Netanyahu.

I see a lot of Igbos insulting Yorubas, Northerners and the good people of the SS. Unfortunately, they don't realise that they are only alive because of the benevolence of these people you are insulting.
