When importation of rice was legal... Local rice was very cheap... Just when importation was banned to encourage local production.. boom! The local farmers paid us back with increased price because they know we've got no choice...

If I were Mr president now I will allow rice importation for at least some months to put sanity back in the local production...and remove high customs tariffs...
