Scarcity creates value, Phds are too rampant in Nigeria and most of the recipients can't defend them.

It has become a status symbol, no for academic excellence, learning or problem solving.

The Minister of Education should audit these things to weed out all dubious professors in the system. I heard of a very serious academic fraud in UNN involving a Professor too. That academic fraud scandal reportedly has taken an international dimension sef. NUC needs to take its job more seriously!

I thought NUC had a platform to monitor these things yet this scenario occurred. Heads need to roll in NUC too.

You didn't understand the whole issue, He was properly recruited as a lecturer in the department of geophysics unizik for a long time..however at the time he left unizik in 2015 to become Ebonyi state SSG, he was senior lecturer, fast forward to 2021 when he came back after he was sacked as SSG, and claimed to have been promoted to a professor at the federal university gusua same 2015 he left unizik as senior lecturer, same 2015 he was SSG ,

unizik refused to accept his claims and rather he was made associate professor in 2021, his current rank so far unizik is concerned.

The governing council ignored all thess concerns from the University management and went ahead to appiont him

Saved many lives though he never spent a day in medical school.

Or that fake lawyer in Kenya who was winning cases right and left ... But he never went to law school .

What exactly is your problem with this matter?. At least no one has denied that Dr. Odoh is a bona fide Ph.D. holder.

But you are here defending a confirmed academic fraud as president. A man whose undergraduate degree is not only in dispute, but has been clearly declared a fake by the institution that supposedly issued it.

And we are talking about the presidency of a country of well over 200 million people. You endorsed this fraud, but shamelessly come here to froth at the mouth over an off-site peer dispute.

Don't think you're smart in the way you sort to bring the name of a well-respected citadel of learning like UNN into disrepute while elevating Unilag and UI. You're just a bloody tribal bigot.

It worked well in this case as the Staff Union indeed questioned the VC ' s credentials.

More than one generation of Nigerians are brandishing Made In Benin certificates that were later discovered to be bought.

Their own case is far worse than this. They are not fake per se but that these Nigerians bought the certificates without attending the schools in Benin. You can order the certificate from the comfort of your home here in Nigeria.

I think the current minister needs to reverify all certificates of federal university so called Professors and Lecturers now. Also, all frauds who refuse to resign before being caught will be made to refund their salary earned throughout their tenure.

I smell political undertone in all this.
Fugus I believe failed on their part to have proper documentation of all that transpired between them as an institution and the lecturer in question Dr odoh, how can you conclude that the document he obtained was fake because the person who signed was no longer your staff or probably retired. They should have invited that person to verify Dr odoh's statement. For point of note UNIZIK is not a glorified secondary as some folks described it earlier. UNIZIK stands out among all the Universities in NIGERIA. I remember then no strike whether ASSU OR SSANU STRIKE YOUR 4YEARS OR 5YEARS COURSE IS 4YRS OR 5YRS. GREAT ZIKITE.
