A Call For Moderation: Addressing Tribalistic Behavior On Nairaland by WaleBuraimoh(op): 6:02pm On Nov 22, 2024
Fellow Nairalanders,

As we strive to maintain a vibrant and inclusive community, it's essential we address behavior that undermines our values. I'm referring specifically to the actions of Helinues, a user who consistently promotes hate, tribalistic and divisive content.

Such behavior not only violates Nairaland's community guidelines but also creates a toxic environment that discourages constructive dialogue. It's crucial we promote respectful discussion and debate, even when we disagree.

The impact of tribalistic behavior on our community cannot be overstated. It:

- Fosters a culture of intolerance and hatred
- Discourages diverse perspectives and opinions
- Creates a hostile environment for users who don't share the same views
- Undermines the credibility and integrity of our community

I urge Seun Osewa, the founder of Nairaland, and the moderation team, including Mynd44, Lalasticlala, and Fergie001, to take necessary action against Helinues and other users who engage in similar behavior. This may include:

- Issuing warnings and penalties for violating community guidelines
- Removing offensive and inflammatory content
- Suspending or banning users who consistently promote tribalistic behavior

Let's work together to maintain a platform that fosters inclusivity, respect, and meaningful discussion. We can do this by:

- Promoting constructive dialogue and debate
- Encouraging diverse perspectives and opinions
- Reporting tribalistic behavior and content to the moderators
- Supporting users who are targeted by hate speech and harassment

Share your thoughts: How can we promote a more positive and respectful community on Nairaland?

Please, you all can do well to list the names of other tribalists on this forum so we can sanitize the forum of these despicable acts.

Thanks

Nairaland is damaged beyond repair. Nairaland is a faceless forum that allows people to show who they truly are. If you try to gag them, it won't change anything about them.

The earlier you guys realise that unity cannot share the same sentence with Nigeria, the quicker we dissolve this dysfunctional country that has led to tens of thousands of avoidable deaths.
