Just wanted to drop some encouragement here.

I know many of us have lost substantial amounts of money gambling, have lots of debt and have bad credit scores etc.

But just think for a second: If you never gambled again, your financial situation will only change for the better and much quicker than you think.

At the end of the day money comes and goes, you will earn more money as long as you work and pretty soon all the money you lost/debt accrued will be a drop in the bucket over a long time horizon.

Take it one day at a time, but also consider how you only live one day at a time repeated. All you need to do is get through one 24 hour day without gambling, and the more you do this, the easier it gets. Eventually it will be years since your last bet, you can do it!

The past is the past, there's nothing we can do to change it. All we have is today, and the future ahead of us.

So what kind of life do you want? A continuation of gambling and all the misery that's its brought you OR a newfound life of Financial responsibility, and appropriate budgeting and saving for your retirement. It's entirely your choice. Nobody can force you to gamble, and if you need help, the resources are out there (Self exclusion, Therapy etc.)
