I don’t really understand the kind roads they are building or patching in Enugu.

Road where supposed to be smooth and even.

But within a week after construction they are now bumping and uneven. It press like something melting. When heavy sun heat it and vehicle drive through it they starts to deteriorate with uneven surface. The old road before was even. But as soon as the lay new asphalt on top the old road within a week. Everything became so bad and uneven.


What they are not doing correctly? Could it be low quality bitumen ? Or there is not enough cement and sand? Or there is something they are not mixing well to make it harden fast?

Those who live in Enugu will know what i’’m talking about. I’m not here to discredit their works or criticize or put them in bad light. The governor or contractors.

It’s a glaring something which anyone from the state capital will noticed.

What they are not doing currently? Could it be low quality bitumen ? Or there is not enough cement and sound? Or there is something they are not mixing yo make it harden fast?

When you make such allegations, you're suppose to back it up with evidence. Either with pictures or you give location....

This was exactly the same thing Obaseki of Edo was criticized of.

His roads do wash off in 6 months max. It’s a disgrace!

Softening and even melting of roads and runways in hot weather is due to the asphalt they use to pave them. This asphalt is composed of gravel and the so-called “still-bottoms” from the oil refining process. This material goes through testing, mainly a test called “softening point” where a sample of asphalt is placed a special apparatus with a needle of a certain weight placed on it. Temperature is increased until the needle starts to sink into it. This “softening point” is a temperature whereby the asphalt is qualified for use in different applications. ASTM D36–06 is the test I used. When the temperature of the asphalt exceeds its softening point, the asphalt will soften and may ooze its lighter components.

It is the material used for construction of roads known as BITUMEN or tar, it is waste product from steel industry. But properties of it are good in making roads. If temp is up 30 degrees it is perfect in shape. If above 40 to 50 degrees it melts and deformation starts. Sir Macadam invented the cement based roads which have long life compared to tar roads but high on expenses. Known as WBM water bond mecadem roads. Which has a life of 50 to 70 years with out any damages.
