There is no known anti-air or missile defense system that can stop a missile traveling at that speed. Indeed there is non that can stop an ICBM in its re-entry phase.

Russia had notified the US, Britain, Germany and France two days before that missile launch which is why these countries closed their embassies in Ukraine yesterday.

The cold in Russia helped them in operation Barbarossa and not their superior weaponery or technology.
Russia is a fine nation in term of tech right but the Germans in 1945 were way better. And the US involvement in the "Already stretched" war with the first Atomic bomb was a master stroke.

Please don't attribute the success to Russia in that matter. It was Then USSR and The present day UKRAINE played a pivotal role in the war.
