Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole, the newly appointed Edo State Commissioner for Health, assumed office on Wednesday, 20th November, 2024, and has embarked on a familiarization tour of the Ministry’s facilities at the State Secretariat Complex as well as other key health facilities in Benin City.

The Commissioner who was accompanied during the tour by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Stanley Ehiarimwian, and directors of various departments, assured that he will operate an open-door policy. He pledged to align his work with the agenda of the State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo.

Health facilities visited by the Commissioner and his Team include the Ogbe Nursing Home, the Sickle Cell Centre, the Pediatric Wing of the Central Hospital, the Edo Specialist Hospital and the Stella Obasanjo Hospital.

Dr. Oshiomole also inspected the former site of the Central Hospital, which is currently being redeveloped as the Museum of West African Arts (MOWAA). He stated that tour was to avail him the conditions of the facilities.

The Commissioner appreciated the State Governor’s dedication to improving healthcare delivery and acknowledged that the efforts are aimed towards providing quality healthcare services to Edo residents, even in the early days of the Administration.

The present deputy governor himself said that Oshiomole rejected the nomination of his son. The deputy governor said that he was given the job irrespective of his father's objection.

Already they have hijacked juicy government agencies like CBN, FIRS, NNPC, etc for their children. Very soon there will be no space for ordinary Nigerians to occupy. What they said in summary was oshiomole did not want, but the governor saw him fit and still went ahead to bring him onboard.

His he not qualified. Go and search through his CV for yourself. I don't fault any politicians son from attaining position when they are qualified. In terms of education, he has more qualifications than previous health commissioners since 1999. We are waiting for is imprint before judgement.

If Oshiomole's son performed very well as the health commissioner and he is pick as Edo north choice, I will gladly support. In as much as i don't like that political party, but the deoyty governor didn't say he wasn't given the job. He was trying to make oshomele look like a special person that's not acting as a godfather.
