The Benue Tiv people are known to have migrated from congo travelled past many nations and finally settled in the Benue valley Middle-Belt region of Nigeria.

The Benue Tiv people are said to have migrated from the Shaba Area of the present Democratic Republic of Congo to where they now live as far back as the 15th and 16th centuries

One very notable fascinating Ancient practice of the Tiv people, is an ancient traditional practice, the " Keghheh " ritual that brings the Dead back the Life .

This Highly revered tiv cultural practice carried out long time ago by a native healer was carried out on a newly dead fresh corps adjudged to have died out of its place or before it's time.

This ancient traditional act required the use a traditional grass grown by the river side cut and carefully passed along the nostrils of the dead person which upon breath would return back to Life.

For many years and centuries past this sacred Tiv traditional practices has been isolated it has gone extinct due to modern Civilization and Diversion from Tiv royal ancestry ways of Life, cultural methods and practices.

I am Tiv but this is my first time of hearing about such ritual, can't even pronounce the name of the ritual as written...

It happens. What I know is that in the olden days that means of transportation is not much when a tiv person dies, their is jazz that they can put on the dead person head, the body will rise up and start walking from the village that the body dies and will walk among people down to the village were the person will be buried. Once in his burial place the juju will be removed from the dead body and the dead will go back to it dead state.

Then maybe you have probably not mingled a lot with people in the rural villages to have heard tales upon tales of the adventures of the greatest tiv men that might've have ever lived.

Any, when the liquid from the grass is dropped in the nostrils, the dead person sneezes back to life.....there you have it. Sometimes the dead person might vomit a very thick mucus etc
