Ambode made a terrible political mistake:

After he fell out with APC and lost the Party ticket, he should have quickly moved to another party (even if it was a less popular party), become their flag bearer and contested the election using his existing achievements and network as the incumbent governor. He could have had a very good chance of winning a second term.

This was the same strategy Peter Obi employed and he we all saw the significant followership he was able to garner within a very short period of moving to Labour Party

It will be extremely difficult for Ambode to return, gather momentum and contest again as governor of Lagos state. His political relevance and influence has greatly declined

If Tinubu isnt running for second term ( a part of me thinks he intends to serve only 1 term) then it is most likely the next governor is HMO. If he runs then he will want HMO with him in ABJ.

Another remote possibility is Tokunbo Abiru. There is no way Seyi is becoming governor ahead of these names. At best he will go to senate or house of rep.

Sanwo-Olu's mediocrity in governing Lagos has opened people's eyes to see that Ambode was a gift to Lagos! See NURTW touts everywhere. BRT has collapsed in many parts of Lagos. Roads are very bad...

If Ambode goes to PDP, I think he stands a very good chance of entering in 2027. Ambode and Fashola are on the same level of excellent governance.
