BREAKING!!! Gov. Nwifuru Suspends Two Commissioners, Other Appointees, Gives Reasons

Ebonyi State Government under Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru has confirmed the indefinite suspension of the Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development and three (3) months suspension of the Honourable Commissioner for Health respectively.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by Commissioner for Information, Hon. Jude Chikadibia Okpor said also to proceed on a three-month suspension are the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, the Executive Secretaries of the State Primarily Healthcare Development Agency and that of the Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency.

He further said in view of the development, the Special Assistant (SA) to the Governor on Primary Health was directed to take charge of the ministry in the absence of the suspended Commissioner.

The suspended government officials are to hand over all government properties in their possession including vehicles to the Secretary to the Government on or before the close of work on Monday, November 25, 2024.

Recall that Governor Nwifuru on Saturday ordered for the arrest of six civil servants that were caught selling Hospital materials meant to be distributed for free.

The arrest was revealed in a statement in Abakaliki, on Sunday, by Governor Francis Nwifuru’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor.

The statement read, “The Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has ordered the arrest and prosecution of one Mr Ndukwe Ayansi and five others for allegedly diverting materials meant for the state’s Ministry of Health.

“The governor, on his way to a project inspection, sighted a Toyota Dyana truck loading registers, books and other materials from the warehouse in the Ministry of Health.

“The governor drove in and made inquiries but not satisfied with the answers given, probed further and discovered that patients’ data registers, cards and a host of other documents were moved into the vehicle.

“It was also discovered that all the documents had been sold without government approval.”

It is not a bad decision since it has to do with criminality.

We need more of this so Nigerian can be responsible

The commissioner of health and other officials suspended with him should immediately be arrested and investigated to understand what they wanted to do with patient's data and relevant punishment should be meted out

Smart governor! That is what to expect. The evil of the civil servants on Nigeria is the reason why all the efforts of previous governments have amounted to nothing. We are always starting from the begining. Yet he appointed commissioners who are useless. That is why it is better for a governor not to have godfathers, so they can hire and fire non-performers and evil civil servants. He should fire more people.

Hmmm .... this kind move is unheard of .... and so fast .... no setting up of committee to look into the matter. Almost always ... the one caught is the one prosecuted.... case closed. The Governor be like a veteran detective.... I'm almost sure the rest are suspended based on lack of accountability. I'm almost sure that's it for them.... two choices ... resign before the suspension ends...or be fired . This governor has sent a message loud and clear .... I'm sure services in the Public sector will dramatically improve overnight. If he keeps this up ....I can see him being pushed by the masses to be President and targeted for assassination by politicians.

That's the way to go. Most of these rubbish has been going on for ages in Primary health care in various states of the federation. Drugs meant for patients are been sold to some pharmacy shops and we say Nigeria will be better. Until people are held accountable for their actions and inactions, the country will be on a standstill. Other governors should beam their search light on what is going on in Primary healthcare in their various states.

The Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has confirmed that the Port Harcourt Refinery in Rivers State has commenced crude oil processing.
The Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the compnay, Femi Soneye, broke the news on Tuesday.
Soneye revealed that the refinery will operate at 60 percent capacity and process 60,000bpd.

All of these criminalities will continue as long as there are no strict repercussional punishments for people caught in such and similar acts

he will hardly come back. Before the expiration of 3months suspension, politicians will be in line lobbying to supply a replacement for him.

I heard from a reliable source, that some hospitals will deliberately push aside machines and other equipments for scanning/test and direct patients to their own personal hospitals for scanning/test. That itself is the highest level of corruption in our hospitals.
