After using govt money to "renovate" them....! Why didn't they take this decision right from the start? Why now after sinking a lot of billions into it's turnaround maintenance...*and to think some people work in these moribund refineries doing nothing but just collecting huge salaries🤔

If it is not profitable, South Korea with no crude oil will not have the largest refineries in the world.
Never said it's not profitable... I said margin is small and the larger the refinery the more economy of scale comes in

South Korea dont really make money from refinery it's just energy security and supply security for their petrochemical complex that's where the money is... Refinery is just a loss leader

I pity those who will fall for this trap. Buying those refineries now is like buying a faulty Mercedes 230 when others are buying GLE 450. Where will you get the parts to fix it?

Using new parts to fix wornout parts of the PH refinery is one of the reasons it never meets the repair completion target. Once they try to power the refinery, another part breaks down.
Educated illiterate peddling ignorance and falsehood grin grin grin.. kontinue

Who's going to buy them , if not Wale Tinubu them ..

Okay ..

This privatization will not make fuel price reduced..

Knee-jerk reactions from a government running on tiger battery power...
If the word "moronic" could be personified, it would be this..
After all the high faluting praises and general display of stupidity...and of course, billions of dollars, now this...
Ineptitude raised to the power of a hundred..kinda reminds me of that long ago science experiment, by the Italian, Alessandro Volta, where a dead frog's leg twitched, when electrical current was passed through it...

This is a fallacy of wrong analogy. If U are a process engineer, U won't say this.
The refinery consists of lines (piping) vessels, columns furnace, boilers and so on. These things can last a life time and may not require u to change all of them at a go.
Rotating equipment are mostly pumps, compressor s, turbines, blowers , ID fans. When U maintain these rotating parts, U mostly change the bearings, the motors, the gasket, strainers and probably the probes. They are well built to last a really long time. This is because (especially compressors) they are not built and shelved. You order for them, give the specifications and materials for construction and they build it for you.
Mind you, apart from Dangote refinery, no new refinery has been built for the last 20 years. The old refineries are just maintained.
Ps. Not counting modular refinery.

Most Nigerians and their leaders are hypocrites. The same people that almost crucified Atiku for saying he would privatise refenieries are still the ones here praising this government for wanting to do the same thing.

So, una trust Tinubu that much to not sell the refenieries to his goons?

Una seriously deserve the kind leaders wey una get sha.

I disagree with you sir, when Jonathan privatised nepa/PHCN... Alot of people said the same thing, now power has improved to some extent, why? the investors spent money to purchase the plant and if they don't give us light we won't pay,so the pressure is on them to give us light..... Same thing with the refineries, so even if na Mercedes 230, buy new engine put and make money

To think that Yar Adua had the opportunity to sell port Harcourt refinery to Dangote during his tenure..this long cry of fuel subsidy, import and high prices would have been eliminated at least a decade ago

This is what you get when visionless people are in power..refused to transfer it to private hands and left it to rot..

Today they are beginning private companies to take over it..funny enough they had to spend their money to repair it first.
My brother I get surprised when ignorant people hails Yaradua as the best President. How could he? Yaradua set Nigeria backward for over 17years by reversing the privatization of those Refineries by the OBJ government. That singular act do us bad things.

Tinubu just want to buy every Nigeria assets. This is no good news at all. Power holding that was privatised years ago is still moribund. At the end of the day, it will make life more harder for common man cos these thieves will want to recoup their money back within a year.

Is this not the same thing Tinubu accused Atiku of during campaign? That Atiku will sell Nigeria's assets and Nigeria as a whole.

I already know who is going to buy those refineries if not already bought. We know how our government behaves, done before announcing.
His move is to buy up Nigeria so that no one can breathe, either to himself or by poxy. Then we begin another cycle of corruption, hunger, poverty . Make una brace up because 2025 won't be easy for everyone under this so called arrangement of a country.
