A number of locals have been hospitalised in various facilities following a free medical outreach in Abiriba, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.

The state’s Commissioner for Health, Ogbonnaya Uche, confirmed the incident in a statement in Umuahia.

He said the hospitalisation was due to suspected adverse drug reactions. He assured the public that healthcare personnel were working diligently to stabilize and treat those affected.

“The ministry is deeply concerned by the consequences of unauthorised outreach. Residents should exercise caution regarding organisers of unapproved healthcare events,” the commissioner stated.

The statement revealed that the organisers of the outreach had failed to obtain necessary approvals from the ministry.

The ministry also warned against unauthorised medical outreaches and healthcare events in Abia State, adding that such unauthorised events would henceforth attract prosecution to prevent future occurrences.

Meanwhile, the Abia State Ministry of Health has reportedly launched an investigation into the incident.

This country is so porous anyone can walk in and poison millions using fake NGOs and will still get away free. NAFDAC is dead and there are no solid administrative set ups to curtail stuffs like this. The most painful part is that when you tell Nigerians that based on the way the world works, certain countries might want to take actions to reduce Nigerias growing population in order to manage the country better to their interests, fellow Nigerians will be calling you a conspiracy theorist. Even after all that happened in Kano with Pfizer. Pathetic.

Many of those fake materials are produced in SE, they are so proud of producing fakes that anyone who doesn't agree is going against their ethnicity.
If NAFDAC decides to work thoroughly in Nigeria today, they will complain that they are being targeted.
We all want a progressive country but not ready to contribute to it.

Clowns are supposed to keep off from serious discussions. People are trying to understand what went wrong and you jump in to prove how stvpid you are.

Nairaland will continue to go down with this quality of contribution.

I am out of here.

Agbo is the highest cause of kidney failure in Nigeria today. Ask any serious health worker. Is that one produced in the SE too?

Where I come from, we don't produce agbo.
I don't encourage people to drink agbo, I have seen alot of fake drugs in this country that has nothing to do with agbo but a particular set of people.
Not just drugs but also food items.

This is exactly why NAFDAC will never be able to act freely, it will become an ethnic battIe like jamb faced few months ago from one particular ethnicity.

Stop the denial. Take responsibility.
Agbo is the biggest killer today in Nigeria. Your sisters ferment, fabricate and distribute that evil concoction from the pit of hell. Yet, we criticize them without lumping your whole ethnic group as if you have a group interest in killing off the rest of us with that poison. Learn from that. There are Igbo fake drug sellers, and there are Yoruba fake drug sellers
Blame NAFDAC not the Igbos.
Mgbu!

Ain't no conspiracy theory, they are facts.
Re: Free Medical Outreach In Abia Lands Many In Hospital (Video, Photos) by safetyboot: 10:05pm On Nov 26, 2024
It is the failure of the Government to provide basic health care for her citizens that is causing all these "Free Medical Outreaches".

Nafdac should do their job. The ethnic narrative is no excuse. Even if 100 percent of fake drug kingpins are from one region, do your job. If anyone claims that such is commited in other regions, they're free to provide actionable intelligence.

Abia State. The state needs prayers, e be like Ikpeazu na the best governor so far. The worst is the scammer elupee governor they were hyping as the Messiah. Nothing to show after celebrating Julius Berger sign post. No progress report on the road. Pensioners have turned to God for help.

Says a fugitive who left Osun State to come and occupy Lagos State, like Political father like his Son ...

But I agree with you, most of these drugs requires human skulls, no wonder you know very well the people producing the drugs as you are always supplying....
