Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, recently joined the people of Okochiri Kingdom to celebrate the 7th Coronation Anniversary of His Royal Majesty, King Ateke Michael Tom.

During the grand occasion at the Amanyanabo's palace in Okrika Local Government Area, Governor Fubara expressed heartfelt admiration for King Ateke’s wise leadership and commitment to advancing the welfare of his people. The Governor’s tribute was warmly received amidst colorful fanfare staged by the community.

However, the celebration was also marked by pointed remarks from Rivers elders, who criticized former Governor Nyesom Wike for his history of alleged disrespect towards traditional rulers. The elders, speaking on the sidelines of the event, emphasized their support for Governor Fubara, describing him as a leader who truly respects the cultural and traditional institutions of Rivers State.

“Governor Fubara understands what it means to honor our heritage and treat elders with dignity. We deserve a leader like him, not someone who insults us,” an elder from Okrika Kingdom remarked.
