Ban On All Cultural Festivities In Igboland Still Stands – Chairman, South-East by femisplash(op): 6:59pm On Nov 27, 2024
The chairman, southeast council of traditional rulers, also traditional ruler of Amaifeke Ancient Royalty, Eze E.C. Okeke has reaffirmed that the ban on all cultural festivals across Igboland is still in force.

He said the region was still in mourning the demise of its illustrious sons and daughter, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Ifeanyi Ubah, Ogbonnaya Onu and Ngozi Onwenu, respectively.

In a press statement personally signed by him, he said it became necessary to formally inform the General public, especially Heads of various Igbo Associations/Organizations in Igboland (Comprising the five South East States) that a mourning period had since been declared by the South East Council of Traditional Rulers and Ohaneze Ndigbo in honour of the departed souls of great children of Igboland who transited this year and have been successfully buried.

Eze Okeke pointed out that in considering the weight of what happened in losing such important Igbo leaders within the same space of time and the pains it has elicited across the broad spectrum of the Igbo society, it was deemed necessary to cancel various events and ceremonies earlier scheduled to commemorate the annual Igbo New yam festival for 2024, which usually involves Ohaneze Ndigbo, State Governments, Traditional Rulers and other key Stakeholders of Igbo extraction.

He stated that It would have amounted to self ridicule and obvious insensitivity to Ndigbo if the region had continued with such centralized gathering to merry when it is expected to mourn and be sober over what he described as calamitous loss of top Igbo leaders.

“We shall consider whoever that violates or attempts to breach this sacred decision as a great enemy of Ndigbo and may go further to request for explanations if such a recalcitrant person or group knows what happened to these great men and woman that transited at our most difficult time, when their presence obviously mattered most,” he cautioned.

All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others. How about those lives Simon Ekpa has wasted so far, have these monarchs put in any effort to commemorate them?.

Igbo from time are not known to have kings.

These overdressed characters who parade themselves as traditional rulers lack spiritual authority to legislate on age-long statutory festivals.

These people are not serious walahi! Until the namadi cownu, the chief perpetrator of killings in the SE is kpai-ed and reunited with his useless parents in hell, the SE may not know peace again….there can never be peace without justice.
May the souls of innocent Igbos killed by ipob/esn/Namadi cownu never rest until all ipob and their supporters are sent to their ancestors-Amen!

Re: Ban On All Cultural Festivities In Igboland Still Stands – Chairman, South-East by tundegan: 9:46pm On Nov 27, 2024

The southeast region don't have or recognise any traditional ruler as overall leader of the people. What we have is traditional rulers manning their respective communities. This ban can only work on the community of traditional ruler suggesting the ban,not on the generality of Igbo race.

Inasmuch as the lose, he has no right to ban igbo festivals. Do you know what it takes to stop a particular festival that has been going on for many years just to be postponed even d last month of the year, is VERY NOT possible.

What about the Orji cultural day? Not to talk about the OKAZI festival where people home and abroad travel to witness?

Its not possible to postpone the gods doesn't agree with this man o

Life comes for Us all, howbeit at Our own time.

We all must realize when it is time, we would leave here and translate to Eternity.
Either Eternal Heaven of Bliss or Eternal Hell of Torment the choice is ours to make.

But to who are still around show be allowed to celebrate because at the right time, they too will leave here but then Sober Reflections is a Better choice that Celebration.

May we Live to Glory God.
Amen!

He should ban it in his village, but saying Igbo land is ridiculous. Selfish people.... You're mourning because one of your class died , all those people killed by Fulani herdsmen and UGM and NPF how many have you mourned? Get out..

The death of iwuanyawu was so painful. He founded d club iwuanyawu football club before being changed to heartland.
Heartland should have played a novelty football match to honour their founder. It's purely necessary for that club if they could seek greater heights
