westrn knowledge maybe advanced but is it the only knowledge huh?
Nope. Knowledge is vast.

But if we apply common sense, applying wool to stop hiccups aint realistic.

“There's the old-wives' tale that if someone suddenly scares you, you'll snap out of the hiccups

This is also not realistic but it may work for some. That's how its history started anyways. Na one person start am, loud am, everybody followed suit..

Guess the doubts of many people have been cleared by the experts now. The useless myth that that putting thread, rope or cotton wool on the scalp of infants or child during hiccups is curative.
It works more than u can think.

Wetin those ones know about spirituality. It does work.
It doesn't..

Hiccup in babies is as a result of excess milk over water in your baby system mostly after feeding.. When you have your child, you will understand

I grew up seeing it but when I gave birth to my baby, I understood it better

That practice actually makes me laugh 😂, especially when those old women would force one to put a strand of wool on the baby's head.
Re: Does Placing Strand Of Wool On Head Stop Hiccups? Paediatricians Say "No!" by OneOnland:
The paediatricians seem to be ignorant then.

Wool being placed on the head is not scientific, or let me say, biology really related, but more of the mechanics of the brain. Whereby, "what is this on my head?" curiosity interferes with the part of the brain that coordinates the hiccups.

The interference then puts the curiosity first and the hiccup stops. It's more mechanical.

For it to work, the hiccupee needs to not exactly know prior what's on their head. Or at least, trick their brain that they aren't unaware, signalling the brain part for curiosity, and so on that the hiccup stops.

Wool on head, or any other curiosity begging item placed on head would work for a curious person, but won't work if you're hard-headed. I even do it for my own self by tricking my brain that I didn't know if a thing's on my head.

Those paediatricians must be hard-headed. grin

This is rather non-related scenario, but take that a human was all smiles and joyous, then all of a sudden hears a loud bang, every atom of joy-give that the person was having would stop and would be filled with rather only fear and flight. So, it's all about the distraction the wool causes for them, not like it is medicinal (biology/cell related) itself.

Paediatrician may say that it doesn't work, but placebo effect have made it work margic for ages.

Wool is very realistic. It's hard-headed persons whose ways are not pure that it often doesn't work for.

What exactly is the relationship between placing a strand of fabric on a baby's had and activity in the baby's throat?

Like the fabric is on the hair of the baby. Does it generate magnetic/electrical waves from the hairs to the skull down to the throat diaphragm to cure the hiccup?
Please explain how a random fabric on your baby's hair cure something in your baby's throat. I'm asking cause you've repeated it about 3 times.

It works my bro, have you tried licking salt when pepper enters you eye, even after washing with water it doesn't go off, try licking salt it would be like magic, don't know the mechanism behind it, but it works

Good. But now sit and think about it, your licking salt and eye theory even makes more sense even though you can't prove it cause by licking the salt, something is going inside your body system. Your whole body is connected with nerves/tissues so it is not entirely strange for you to lick something into your system through your mouth to cure something in your eyes. Same way you can ingest medicine to cure pain in your toes.

Now placing a random fabric on a baby's hair does not have any biological relationship with whatever is going inside the baby's system. That is the point.
Are you saying that the random fabric on the baby's hair would generate some kind of energy that will travel down from the hairs on the head down to the skull, then somehow find its way to the mouth to the diaphragm to cure the hiccup
