ozo13:So who will run the better university infrastructure when you don't have better hands? Sending scholars for foreign training is not a waste in my view. India did it and they have one of the best medical industry today. Many of your antimalarial are made in India. |

Guestmale:Maybe we don't see the benefits because we don't create a conducive environment for them to harness what they learned. As for this that japa, they can always japada with their enormous skill and expertise once the local conditions improve. |

MadamVanessa:Don’t you know you can voluntarily decide not to be a Nigerian again ? You only need to go to the immigration office and ask for renunciation form. It’s free me and easy. Thereafter you will be stateless. I doubt you will be missed though. |

Kukutente23:Topic like this is always hard to comment on in the Nigeria context. I disagree with you if everything else remain equal and the Nigeria factor is not considered. Instead of spending hard earned foreign currency on sending people overseas. The same amount of money can be used to build local capacity and infrastructure to train more people and improve our institutions. You can have international training online without leaving the country. Advancement in technology have made it easier to train people long distance without incurring the cost of travel, estacode and hotel accommodation. Since Nigeria have been sponsoring these scholars overseas, what has Nigeria benefited? What is the return on investment? It is time Nigeria start cutting it's coat according to the size of the cloth. Even if I agree with you that Nigeria needed these scholars, we just don't have the money for it any more. Off course the benefit gained from cancelling the sponsorship will end up in someone's else pocket. Hence the challenges one face in taking a position in this type of discussion. |

PulaPower:olodo Mr Ronu ebi n pawa. Government officials are using tax payers money/public funds for their own private lives. Nigerians are using their personal money not public funds. Omo irankiran supporting failed government thinking everyone not supporting failure are igbos. Useless thing |

Fiscus105:Some do come back not all stay behind. One of my lecturer is a TETFUND product. There are ways they can make them come back or pay back the money. Cancelling it is wrong but we know as e dey go sha. Those politicians spending public funds for their personal lives what benefits does it have to the nation? |

Good! Better! Best!!! After all we have not seen the significant impact of those that have gone in the past except that they run away and turn around to abuse the system. |

Kukutente23:The ones they have sent in the past, what has the nation and its citizens benefited from it?? If your write up your even said that Nigeria didn't have any journal ranked No. 1 in engineering and co. My question is those that were sent abroad in the past why didn't they achieve this feat for Nigeria?? |

Villa12:What is a scholar, someone licensed to carry micro chips. Just cram something and vomit it back. A brick layer is better than a scholar, scholars create nothing, they re parasites. |

Cmeo:Do you know what is required to have a Q1 journal? Do you think it only has to do with intellect and willingness of scholars? How many universities in Nigeria have e-library and repository that's functional? Most of them run their repository on free hosting sites not secure |

Kukutente23:fund yourself and then come and give back to the country. Lead since you know the right thing. Govt do not have to sponsor you |
| Re: FG Cancels Foreign Trainings For Nigerian Scholars by Kukutente23(op): 4:56pm On Nov 29, 2024 |
pongwa:The govt has a responsibility to fund and sponsor education. It is so worldwide. You can't tell people to go fund themselves and still tell them how to "give back to the country". It makes zero sense |
| Re: FG Cancels Foreign Trainings For Nigerian Scholars by pongwa(m): 5:01pm On Nov 29, 2024 |
Kukutente23:'do not think about what your country can do for you but for what you can do for your country'. For me sending someone to go and read economics or geography shows how serious I am about real growth in the educational sectors. Build schools capacity to offer world class education and see the revenue you will attract year in year out. Every year US earns over a million dollars in application fees and visa fees whether they admit or not. The Change we seek is painful but very beneficial |
