As an Xbox and PC fan, I want to try some Ps4 games like:
God of War 3(remastered) or any other GOW series
Uncharted series
The Last of Us II
Days Gone
Ghost of Tsushima. Ever since I saw their trailers, I have just been uneasy.

It's not just about playing the game on a console for playstation fans. There is this joy that comes with unlocking trophies on the platform that keeps ppl wanting to buy their version of the games and playing it there

Except most of these games have achievement too on pc tho so I think that trophy talking points doesn't seem true anymore.

My PC isn't high-end. It mostly plays 7th Gen (Ps3&Xbox360) games smoothly. 8th gen games are either slow or don't play at all.

You can also play more games from like the last 4 decades ago on the steam deck. Same can’t be said for your ps5 lol. It’s not even comparable. The steam deck is a pc so it’s way more versatile than any console can ever be.
Pc=>Steam deck>>>Xbox series=>Ps5

Switch suxxx tho so I don’t rate that handheld anymore even tho I had it at one point but it’s a dinosaur now.

The steamdeck is a portable pc.
That's what you could have said and your message will be clear. The question was why the steamdeck is so expensive not which console is better.
Also you can infact play older game on the ps5 as far back as ps1 games.
The ps5 offers more than the Xbox series simply cos of the quality of exclusives. They do eventually go on the pc but never on the Xbox. Some third party games don't even get released on the Xbox like wukong (a great game btw).
So if I were to rank gaming devices it'll be;
PC - PS5 - XBOX.
For handheld I actually prefer the Asus Rog Ally X but the steamdeck is a close second then the Lenovo legion go. They are all basically just portable PCs so go with your budget.

There is another reason

It is called loss leader.

The console is sold below manufacturing cost because the real market for sony, xbox and Nintendo is their games and services.

Valve makes a game maybe every 5 years, so they are not looking at the steam deck as a source of income from their catalog. Asus and lenovo do not make games at all and do not have a storefront

Sony is selling you the ps5 as a portal to buying from their extensive library and psn subscription. The price of the games and subscription over the lifetime of the console will easily pass the cost of the console itself

It is even worse with Nintendo who regularly re release their classics and sell at current market rates.

You will not notice this in Nigeria because most Nigerians underutilize consoles or buy them as status symbols. Though the situation is not helped by the lack of proper market localization.

The only platform that you can actually do some naira purchases is the xbox.

Example - The price of the mifi is still low because you avm literally pay the price of the mifi with one month data sub.

The steamdeck and the ps portal would be a better comparison.

The PS Portal is not a handheld console, it's a streaming device.

It is both, a handheld and streaming device. The main purpose of the portal is so you essentially have your ps5 on the go where you'll not normally get access to your console.
