The country plans to conduct a census next year and it is also a plan to enroll more people on NIN platform so we can truly know how many we are

We already have Polling Units where the counting can be launched from and it covers every constituency in the country

I’m sure when we have a credit census, we will realize that there are more southerners than northerners

A census is important and should be done every 5 years or fewer. If you have no proper data management system, you don't have a country.

Dead on arrival, each time a new project is proposed, we should look at it deeply. there must be a motive behind behind it. census ko, cancus ni... people are hungry, economy is down, lives are threatened on daily basis . Are we doing census to know how many remains to be killed. The most useless govt ever seen in the history of an arranged country.

NIN does not cover everyone, especially in the north where people have no interest in having bank accounts.

Census covers the national population

We need a very honest person to conduct a proper census because what's happening up north is alarming, anyone from Niger or Cameroon can just walk in and claim to be Nigerian but down South the border is so tight that the very thought of risking your life to cross it will put you off.

I wonder if this was designed by those who held public office before or it's just incompetency.

This is just a political statement, I guess you are a southern politician because they are the ones that use issues like this to score cheap political points.
But Northerners are more than southerners , remember they are always breeding children even in the Christian communities in the north.

Stop throwing around figures you aren't sure of. According to the NIMC boss, only 115 million Nigerians have NiN. If the population of this country is truly 230 million people, it means only 50% of Nigerians have been captured.

This is where the problem is. This northern factor of self imposed backwardness. Nin is exact. Census is inflated. Let everyone have NIN. Nin is not the same as BVN. Bank account is not needed for NIN.

which one is self imposed backwardness? How many teenagers and newborn have NIN in Nigeria? I said especially the north, that does not mean everyone in the south has NIN.
All children and most teenagers don't have NIN in the south too, it's like saying we should use voters card to determine the population when their is a criteria for having a voters card when everyone doesn't meet that criteria.
NIN cannot be used, same way voters card cannot
